I think ECU is one of the most overrated teams in the nation.

Could you name a player on ECU's team?

No. But I've paid attention to a lot of baseball this season. I think the AAC is a little overrated as a whole as well. But kudos to the AAC and ECU for their scheduling philosophy: lots of great mid week matchups this year. We all know midweek W's aren't as good of an indicator as weekend series W's but midweek W's vs. weekend W's don't discriminate when it comes to affecting your RPI and ECU is proof of that this year. They got some quality midweek wins this year: Ole Miss, Duke, UNC, Campbell.

That may be true but ECU is in the #5 ranked RPI conference and only lost one weekend series all year long across the continent @ #1 UCLA. We are likely gonna have to travel to Lou if we are fortunate enough to win the Greenville regional but look at #7 Louisville's resume vs ours at #10 and you decide if that's fair. Look at common opponents as well.

RE: **OFFICIAL NCAA REGIONAL DISCUSSION THREAD**
A few rumblings from D1:

Kendall Rogers says the Baton Rouge regional is the toughest: "You have three teams with similar pitching deficiencies at times in LSU, Arizona State and Southern Miss. That could lead to a lot of runs at The Box this weekend."

Mark Etheridge also thinks the Baton Rouge regional is the toughest: "Despite the raucous home field advantage, LSU may have their hands full with a potent Arizona State offense and a Southern Miss team that was at its best winning the C-USA Tournament. Add in dangerous 4-seed Stony Brook with their own Alex Box history and you have a potent quartet."

https://d1baseball.com/postseason/region...eld-of-64/

First game tomorrow, Southern Miss vs. Arizona State at noon on ESPN3.

Hopefully we see strong showings by both FAU and USM.

Has this version of CUSA ever had 3 teams in a season make it to regional?

Yes-a few years back we got four-Rice, LA Tech, USM, and FAU.

In 2016, CUSA had 4 teams: USM, FAU, La Tech, and Rice. We tied the PAC12 with the 3rd most conf. teams in the tourney.

For reference, CUSA had these teams make regionals:
2015: FAU, FIU, Rice
2014: ODU, Rice
2013: Rice
2012: UAB, ECU, Rice, UCF
2011: USM, UCF, ECU, Rice
2010: USM, Rice
2009: USM, Rice, ECU....all 3 teams won their regional and played in Super-Regionals. USM made it to the CWS
2008: USM, Houston, Rice, Tulane, ECU
2007: ECU, Memphis, Rice, USM
2006: Houston, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulane
2005: ECU, USM, TCU, Tulane

We've really sucked as a conference since 2012. I wonder what happened around then...?

The '11-'12 were really some of the best years for USM. CUSA Champs in football, Basketball was NCAA Tourney Dancing, Baseball was it's normal self playing in a regional.

Not that much of a surprise but USM announced freshman Gabe Shepard will start Friday's game vs Arizona St. With this now official I would assume our normal Friday starter Walker Powell will start Saturday to give him an extra days rest as he threw the Wednesday and Sunday games at the CUSA-T.

He’s also the only active pitcher on our roster who’s ever shown competence in a SEC environment (earlier this year at State).

According to weather.com it's partly cloudy and temp in the low-mid 80s.

In Baton Rouge it's partly cloudy and in the low 90's. Supposed to get into the mid 90s today. Hopefully this humidity messed with the ASU players.

Not the start FAU wanted.

I swear, if FAU could figure out how to win these openers, they'd do much better in regionals.

Thanks for that info. We really need Rice to get back to its BB power ways. Will help the entire conference.
