A Conference Realignment Trade Proposal
So I'm not a big fan of the conferences trading teams scenarios as I think they are unrealistic. But I'm bored and need a realignment fix. So:

Let's say:
SEC gets Texas/Kansas
Big 10 gets OK + ?

Would Kansas/Missouri for OK be a fair swap (Kansas/Missouri both AAU for Big 10).

Could any (beyond or besides the above) expansion and trade scenario get OK and Nebraska in the SEC? Is Nebraska even a worthy candidate for the SEC assuming we had regional rivals like OK on board?

If the Big 12 does lose one or both of its biggest schools, the other schools may prefer going independent in football and just schedule heavily amongst themselves. I would assume ESPN+ to soak up those rights and then maximize profits and scheduling ease for all.

Also, a rebuild of the Big 12 could happen too.

Don't rule out the possibility that there is a move to divisionless scheduling and that creates the possibility of asymmetrical expansion. In that eventuality taking Kansas in this scenario would be unnecessary as they would detract from the value added of Texas.

If we move to being able to have such a scheduling format then it really increases the likelihood of expansion to only 15. Should the SEC get 275-300 million from its CBS renewal and the NCAA permits divisionless scheduling I would think that 15 becomes the much more likely number and Oklahoma might become the preferred target, although if Texas had interest certainly both would add significantly.

If there is no move to divisionless scheduling then I think we would still be looking at landing a pair.

It seemed that the BIG had every opportunity in the world to land Mizzou several years ago and passed. I don't see what has changed with Missouri's demographics, the school itself, or its athletic program that would all of a sudden change their mind. I am happy to have Mizzou in the SEC.

The only plausible "trade" I can ever envision is Vanderbilt to an ACC that becomes even more private school and elite academics based. For example, if FSU, Louisville, and maybe one or two others ever jumped ship for athletics reasons and the rest of the conference declared a commitment to basically being the second generation Ivy League, I think that would peak Vandy's interest. Culturally, Vandy truly belongs with Georgia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, UNC, UVA, and Miami. They would do fine with Notre Dame, Pitt, Boston College, and Syracuse, too. Time will tell.

I think Fluge said the B1G was looking at divisionless scheduling. Adding quality over quantity will be key looking for member number 15.
