We here in Michigan need to raise taxes. You cannot rebuild our infrastructure, lower the cost of higher education, whatever, without the funds that are necessary to do those things. We have fooled ourselves into thinking that we as a State could continue to cut taxes since Engler was Governor, and prosper as a State.
Now, everyone is aghast over a 45 cent gas tax increase to pay for the infrastructure needs. When very little was used through the years, to be spent for what was needed, what does one think is going to be needed after forty years of neglect?
