RE: Bowl Schedule Released
Two very interesting things caught my attention.

I guess with Dec 21 being so crowded that ESPN moved the Potato Bowl to Jan. 3.

Also, the Boca Raton Bowl is being broadcasted on ABC.

RE: Bowl Schedule Released
The only "NY6" bowls actually on New Years Day are the Rose and Sugar. The Orange is on 12/30, while the Cotton, Peach and Fiesta are on 12/28. Those last two are CFP semis, which puts more than two weeks between the semis and the championship game.

+ 15 bowls

If they ever move to 8 CFP, they should have all 4 QF games on NYD.

I thought they were trying to have all the games before the playoffs (or at least ending 1/1. There are 5 after January 1.

RE: Bowl Schedule Released
Between December 30 and January 6 there are 6 bowls involving at least one G5 team. Three of them are G5 vs G5. That's better exposure than in the past.

The holidays worked out better this year for better bowl scheduling. Last year or two it stunk.

Any bowl additions or subtractions from the 2018-19 bowl season?

Is the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego still the last to call it quits?

Being on ABC, got to think the MAC Champion goes to Boca Raton (barring the Access Bowl slot being available, of course).

I wonder why Matt Sarz Sports can't keep up with the Boca Raton rotation when the Tenneseean can.

One reason is probably because the newspaper pays staff to do that.

Not all that many all that much anymore, but I guess enough to copy and paste what is in the ESPN release without copying and pasting from last year's entries.

Matt has a full time job and does this on the side. Really well if you ask me.

Bruce send him an email or tweet with the adjustment

RE: Bowl Schedule Released
The First Responders Bowl will move out of the old Cotton Bowl next year to SMU due to the Hockey Game on Jan.1. It will probably be 75 degrees for the hockey game. lol 90,000 seats vs 32,000 is a much better fit for the bowl. I also can see this game moving to the new Rangers Stadium the next year. Won't have to worry about the weather.

That is what wiki has. They MAC in Boca Raton this year. Last year the 5th bowl was Frisco. Its a rotated spot but I think the AAC had an opening last year and that is how the MAC landed in both Frisco and Boca Raton where they sent their champ.

Quote:American Athletic Conference[edit]

2018: [3]
Bowl games will be placed based on best fit for the Conference and its membership.
The Birmingham Bowl versus SEC
The Gasparilla Bowl versus ACC
The Frisco Bowl versus MAC
The Military Bowl versus ACC
The Armed Forces Bowl versus Big 12
The Boca Raton Bowl versus Conference USA
The Cure Bowl versus Sun Belt
Conditional Secondary-Agreements
The Liberty Bowl The American fills unused slot if SEC or Big 12 does not fill its slot
The Independence Bowl Conference USA or the American fills unused slot if ACC or SEC does not fill its slot (both have backup agreements).

2019:
Birmingham Bowl versus SEC
Gasparilla Bowl versus Conference USA
Frisco Bowl versus Sun Belt
Military Bowl versus ACC
Hawaii Bowl versus BYU
Boca Raton Bowl versus MAC
New Orleans Bowl versus Conference USA
Cure Bowl versus Sun Belt

Yes, the AAC had the Access Bowl spot in the Fiesta Bowl, and took a secondary tie-in that opened up a spot in Boca Raton, where the MAC had a secondary tie-in as part of the rotating pool of conferences.

My point was rather about the reliability of the information at the site chosen as the source for the Bowl Schedule. I recall people swearing up and down that the MAC did not have the Frisco last year, and arguing that the official MAC release of their bowl tie-ins was wrong while whatever site they were looking at which had muffed the rotating schedule was right.
