Same here in the early 70's. I had a 30-30 and a 12 ga in a rifle rack in my 67 Ford F100. The only time I was ever questioned about it was when the principle asked me what kind they were. I got in probably more than my share of fights and it never once entered my head to go and get either of those guns.

It was the 90's for me. I would keep a couple choppers in the trunk of my 64 Impala. The principal knew not to question me. If anybody wanted to fight, I would let them know that I didn't have a problem 'popping the trunk'. Fun times.

So basically the same things Ice Cube and Dr Dre glorified in their music?

I'm not a believer in video games contributing to violence, but I'm wondering if VGs, TV, Movies, Cell phones and Music have 'glorified' and thus vicariously encouraged the idea that if people 'disrespect you' that you should fight back/stand up/go get your boys/guns. I'd also say the internet has contributed to trolling, hate... the power of insults in anonymity etc and thus more aggressive reactions.

Bright idea.

Virtually any teacher, student, school employee, can take a gun(s) inside of a school.
It is the same issue. How to defend yourself when not armed, as the shooter is armed. So yes it is a good idea to have school employees armed, be that teachers or officers. Another swing and miss CB, zero logic.

Curious if any of the posters advocating for teachers to be armed have they themselves been teachers?

Are they advocating for teachers to be armed, or are they merely advocating for teachers to have a choice/opportunity to be armed or otherwise protected?

I think the whole framing of the position in this manner is to argue in the absurd. I don't think anyone is arguing that teachers be randomly issued guns. There IS a difference

I've not been a teacher but I did volunteer a lot at a school. A lot. Was named volunteer of the year for a district. I also worked in a banking environment with lots of cash/similarly a target though for a different demographic of criminal.

I've never been a teacher. I am a licensed HCP holder. If I were a teacher I'd want to be able to protect myself the same as at any other time in my life.

The University that my daughter goes to allows concealed carry on campus (with license/certificate of course), and I am pleased with that.

Wish NC would stop this whole "Gun Free Zone" death traps nonsense. We saw very recently, and painfully, that it serves only to provide criminals and nut jobs with an immunity zone to operate in. Had it not been for someone very brave sacrificing his own life to thwart the nutjob, a lot more than two people would have died.

Anyone who claims they will have to pop a trunk for a pea shooter because of a fight, and then brag about that's how they roll, is the biggest p*ssy in the world.

I don't advocate for it unless they're properly trained and are not proned to fly off the handle at the smallest thing.

• Way fewer two parent homes.
• When parents are in home many are distracted parents with faces glued to their little screens.
• Parent(s) that don't spend time teaching good behavior and instilling discipline.
• Working parents that give their kids things instead of their time.
• Indulged children who never learned that you can't always win, won't always get what you want and that things sometimes don't go your way and that's ok.
• Very violent, very realistic video games.

You left out the devaluation of life. Abortion of fully formed viable babies being part of that. Assisted suicide. Hate for the police officers who keep us safe. Hollywood’s celebration of the most criminal violent behavior. And certainly the lefts attack on all things of a Christian God.

To sum it up...

Marxist strategy being implemented in the U.S.
