The RBI club takeover is sad. It was one of the absolute best things about the program.

03-lmfao y’all are crazy. Football had cold showers, rats, and moldy lockers until 2 years ago. Our football team is probably the least pampered FBS team.

Baseball had a top 50 facility, used to be top 20 but we’ve sat on our hands the last 10 years. I don’t agree with the changes in the RBI program described on here, but you don’t have to whine about football to make the point.

The fact that nobody could find the keys to the smaller van was not considered justification. Fortunately, cooler heads in the department prevailed, and the firing was retracted.
FYI, If you’re keeping track at home, that 12 wins in four seasons to which you refer is one more than Rice can claim in our four most recent seasons.

And those were 10 game seasons too. And there was a tie in there as well, so the record was 12-27-1, compared to 11-37 in the latter period you reference.

From 1967-70, Rice was 2-2 against Texas A&M and 3-1 versus Baylor.

Also, in the last 4 seasons, Rice is 11-38 (extra game because of Hawaii).

^^ football guy.

Black holes and money pits have been brought up throughout this and football is without a doubt the biggest one. By trying to prop up football we have sucked the life out of other programs.

Football = waste of money. At least in baseball we have a shot at revitalizing the program - highly unlikely for football.

3 Ls based on how we've been playing.

It's a triple-elimination tourney? Nice!!

We get a 'ghost runner' game there.

I hope our third loss is not a player on the bus trip.

Welp, one loss and one player.

Football should not be considered mediocre. They also did not have cold showers, rats, and mold until 2 years ago. Their facilities have been up to date since 08 at least.

Yea, you get a good sense of that when you look at what a bottom dweller school like ULL was building for their team before we even finished Patterson. Listen to some of the people on here and they act like our team is treated like A&M, Clemson or Bama.

RE: Weary Baseball Team Heads to Biloxi
I played for Rice last year and understand the importance of RBI. I called one of my teammates and a new RBI board member and was told the following. The meals were an issue and the RBI CLUB received an email from Betty Bixby expressing concern. The RBI Board addressed this concern and it was immediately fixed. Bragga took great offense to this and screamed at the team after a loss for talking about meals. The RBI club is in the process of setting by laws to make sure it is independent. I was told they are taking there time to do it right and have had multiple board meetings.

My experience was interesting because RBI was extremely helpful but Greg was a terrible influence on the program. He controlled Tanya (Coach Graham) and was divisive.

Thanks for your insight, but is that an accurate statement? Someone controlled Tanya and the OG?

Not clear on the meal issue. Not good enough? An infraction of NCAA rules? Could you clarify?

No kidding. Hopefully having former players on the Board will yield better results. Will wait and see if we will contribute again.

LOL LOL LOL

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard here. The fact that I could control Tanya or Wayne or that Tanya controlled Wayne is so absurd. Now the fact that I took over RBI and doubled the contributions in year 1 and did all the asking for the barn and the roost in addition to making contributions in the 6 figures and giving the Team 100s of hours of free volunteer time- well maybe that earns a certain amount of respect, but control? I guess I was a terrible influence when I got Greenspan to agree to pay the full cost of travel and expenses up front rather than have RBI do it and gave an annual accounting to all the donors of where the money went! Terrible influence! Some people without any skins in the game said the same thing about Ron and probably Sarah. I was not taking crap of the AD when he was working counter to the program's success but that was my job to help Wayne. So former player, everyone knows who I am, who are you?

So I guess this is just so stupid it is hardly worth my time. Especially when someone like TIKI, with his negative slaps at Wayne that went on for years before he was gone and his failure to invest his money where his mouth is, is in agreement. Tell us who you are and then maybe we can see why it is you think I was a terrible influence!

Curious. We’re you outwardly supporting Southern Miss during last regular season series? We’re you outwardly hating on the team? We’re you outwardly criticizing current players? The answer is yes and can be backed up by multiple Rice supporters who you gladly told.

Tiki has been one of the best supporters of Rice baseball for a long time. Going after him is just flat wrong.

RE: Weary Baseball Team Heads to Biloxi
Outwardly clapping and cheering, no because I like those kids. I was there giving the seniors graduation congratulations, something the old RBI used to do as a matter of practice.

Will I ever support a Rice team as long as Joe/Tudor and Leebron are in charge? NO! That did not mean I criticized the players I knew and I don't know the new ones.

Don't worry, I am sure that Tiki will pick up the slack in my and others absences- he is such a giver and he was on so many of those road trips with us between 2012 and 2018.

Hopefully, with this season over you guys will move on from blaming Wayne and I can resist the bait to come and defend him in his absence.

And just to set the record straight, I don't know if Bragga really screamed at the team about the meals or not, but if he did he is so stupid. The kids did not say anything to Betty- she was at the hotel and saw them ordering uber eats and pizza.

Aloha!
