I think the NFL Network is on more TV packages than LHN. I have NFL, but not LHN.

This is great news. Now C-USA needs to focus on getting the rest of our content on the Fox regional channels Sinclair is buying.

Wow! Interesting to have that as on option.

I believe the NFL network will take the games that BeIN Sports had which their contract with CUSA expired this season.

Only the Longhorns are on that channel. Yes, UTSA and Texas St had football games on there early on, but they haven’t had any other non-UT sports since. I don’t see any Conference being on that channel, nor would they want to. If you’re the Old Dominion AD, how do you tell your fans football games will be on LHN? Not happening. ESPN+ is a better alternative by all metrics.

I will give CUSA credit, this is some intelligent outside the box thinking.

RE: C-USA signs deal with NFL Network
I saw a suggestion from a WKU account on Twitter that CUSA should consider tiering out their games based on their best matchup 3 weeks out like the other conferences do. Tier 1- NFL Network Tier 2- CBS Sports Network Tier 3- Stadium/ESPN+ would better showcase the league.

Couldn't agree more.

The AAF games on NFL Network had decent production values. This could be a nice deal for CUSA.

Very impressive. They get on a Network that gets into about 63 million homes and their games are on Saturday afternoon. It is difficult for G5 conferences to get on Linear TV on a Saturday afternoon. Even if there is little money with it, the exposure is excellent.

NFL Network's 63 million subscribers are more than four times as many as beIN has, so that's a big upgrade in availability.

Points for originality for sure - very creative!
I see no downside given where they were coming from.

I doubt there was a whole lot of money involved, but it is good exposure. A lot better than BeIn, facebook, or wherever else their games were. Congrats.

RE: C-USA signs deal with NFL Network
I posted this on another thread but I'll copy/paste/edit a bit for here:

That'll keep the CUSA base from wanting to fire Judy into the sun for a good while.

It's a great move, imo. I think CBSSN has one year left at having the first choice of games but still has their CCG and BB champ games for a few more years. 2020 the CUSA could focus on putting all their key match ups on NFLN, then StadiumRSN/CBSSN can bid on the rest. They'll have at least 30 FB games on real TV this year, right? That's quite a big deal for what seemed to be an all but brain-dead conference front office.

If they could come together as a conference and buy The First Responders Bowl (a bowl ESPN Events clearly doesn't give a ratass about) they could knock an home run.

Agreed, very smart. If you're not on CBS, Fox or Disney's various upper tier channels, this is probably the next best thing.
