Okay. How will this work, will you notify me on your birthday, or do I need to track that?

Track it

I'm 52. Not sure what the issue is with age. If you like to talk sports, you like to talk sports, whether you're 20 or 60, and regardless of whether it's online, with friends and acquaintances, or both.

They have done nothing to garnish any attention or recognition in the past 30 years. Their fans need to wake up and realize that no one cares about when you beat Alabama in the Stone Age. North Texas is certainly a school on the up & up. Football is great, basketball improving, and awesome facilities. I basically like every school in the conference except southern miss, utsa, and the Florida brothers. And this is coming from a packers fan.

Flagship isn't about recent accomplishments. USC is the flagship of PAC, but they've been bad for a long time now. Texas is the flagship of the B12, but ...

Even though Oklahoma has had 2 consecutive heisman trophy winners in a row and made it to the playoffs 2 years in a row and won the conference much more than Texas in the last 15 years? I think OK would beg to differ. They also have had 2 consecutive number 1 draft picks

I think that when you consider all sports, Texas trumps OU. Throw in the fact that UT is respected more academically, by a pretty good margin, and has a MUCH higher endowment ($15 Billion vs. OU's $1.7 Billion, it becomes even less of a competition. OU can't even get their acronym correct because University of Oklahoma should really be UO.

When I think of UO I think of the 1st multi player game online that I played in Ultima Online. This is just as backwards as the University of Tulsa. They abbreviate as TU and not UT.

You’ve thrown beer cans in 4 different oceans, that’s impressive.

Thank you! Age has nothing to do with being on a sports forum or not. I’m 73 and absolutely love it! So yeah, I’m retired and like to spend some time reading about UNT sports and all things CUSA. I’m a Vietnam Vet and can still handle most anything(but slowing down!)04-cheers

With age comes wisdom. It is well past time for you to grow out of your unholy fascination for the depravity that is VCU.

Thanks for your service. My uncle was a green beret in Vietnam, and virtually every male on my dad's side of the family served in one of the branches, including my dad who was in the Army for 20 years, and my younger brother who was a Marine. I'm the oddball who didn't enlist, but I always thank a veteran when I see one.

I’ll go...

1. Rice Baseball

Layers of crap

2. Southern Miss Football
3. Marshall Football (Mainly because the movie)

Several layers of crap

4. WKU Basketball
5. Louisiana Tech Football (Homer Pick)
6. ODU B-ball (ehh)
7. MTSU B-ball (ehh)

Having southern bias, I’d say UAB, Charlotte, MTSU, FIU, and FAU have no name brand. I recognize UNT, but I think it’s largely because they’re in my region.

Really, Rice baseball is the only team with national relevance, a few of the mentioned above can draw eyes if they’re playing a formidable opponent.

clt sees why the appys are picking on you pal.

Charlotte has 40,000 more alumni than Marshall. A large proportion of them stay in Charlotte, because it is awesome and you can get a great job.

clt says stick to talking about the good ol days!

Hey numb nuts, he said FANS. Just because they are alumni doesn't mean they are fans.

Let's see, you had less than 10k fans actually show up per game this year in football. I would say we have more than 10k alumni living in the Charlotte area.

Exactly...no sense letting reading comprehension get in their way.

So you make an apples to oranges comparison and then blame others when they change it to be apples to apples? Gotcha.

So you change someone's premise and then tell them their conclusion is wrong? Gotcha.

Point is we have a whole lot of Marshall people in the Carolinas. More than enough that it's stupid to assume that we've never seen an ocean, which was the point of this whole tangent.

Also, clt will admit that a few marshall people likely made it Myrtle beach SC.

When the premise is flawed, it makes no sense arguing it. You chose to compare Marshall’s alumni base (quite easily quantifiable) to Charlotte’s fan base (hard to quantify. Is it bball season ticket holders, football season ticket holders, anyone who’s been to a game in the past year, anyone who paid $1000 for the right to buy season tickets to football without a stadium even being built, anyone who will watch them on tv, anyone who will strike up a conversation with you in a bar about the team?) Of course, you likely knew that when making the comparison. You can compare your easily verifiable number with whatever number you want to make up or use for Charlotte.

Changing the argument is the only thing that makes sense (either alums to alums, season ticket holders to season ticket holders, fsl holders, etc.) clt changes it to alums because he knew he would win. Although, honestly, not sure why I’m expending this much energy over an argument started by someone whose only purpose is to troll. (Edit: by that I mean clt, not you)
