Gotta earn it...his recruiting skills do not matter when it comes down to brass tax.

I would imagine a couple of months of workouts and practice will determine the starting lineup and rotation. That is subject to change during the season.

Good call on Precious today!

I guess that certains are Wiseman, Precious and Tucker because the first two are so physically talented than anyone that if they are struggling even in practice you would rather them to figure it on the court and Tucker experience trumps everything and I doubt he comes out struggling with his skills

Still think Tyler might surprise people, he is putting the work in the gym and the quality of the players around him will make him more open to three pointers than last season

I like the Ced comparison, but I think DJ has a quicker first step.

I would put Rayjon at the 2 and DJ at the 3.

Lester and Tyler 1st off the bench.

Agree. Unless we get Watford

I would be very surprised if Tyler starts.

His best role is offense off the bench.

I'm not saying he'll start all season. But I do expect him to get the nod at the start of the season. I also think he deserves it based off of his play last year. Still, he will absolutely have to earn it against strong competition.

Maybe an Ellis, Tucker, Jefferies, Achiuwa, Wiseman lineup.

I too will be surprised if Harris starts any games. Think about it this way. He didn't start at the end of last season behind Thornton and Kareem. This year, we have Boogie, Tucker, Lester, Baugh. He will get plenty of play though. And I expect he'll be even more effective, even if it's fewer minutes.

As someone said above, the starting lineup doesnt matter.

Our rotation will be 10-11 deep....maybe 12 depending on Boyce. I wouldnt be shocked to see Malcolm redshirt especially if he's out until December.

Starting lineup may not matter to fans - but you have to know it matters to kids. Everyone will not be happy. It happens. Good problem to have, but still can be a problem. I have full confidence that Penny and staff can manage this as well as anyone.

Yup.

How I see it:

Boogie
Tucker
DJ
Precious
Wiseman

Bench:
ALo for Boogie
Tyler for Tucker
Lester for DJ
Thomas for Precious
Maurice for Wiseman

I think Baugh gets run at the 1-3 b/c he's long and can defend.
I think we we play fast enough that most will be happy with minutes. Of course there may be 2-3 who'll be upset.

This is pretty close to how I see it playing out as well.

Bad azz tiger
One tall bad azz tiger

Bench
A bunch of bad azz tigers

What about the lineup when Watford is added in as a player? This roster is so stacked I see how you can platoon it and still succeed.

I watched the GS/Portland game last night and saw a taste of the style that (I think) Penny wants to employ. Twelve players on GS's roster logged minutes and the frantic pace (lead by Green) put Portland on their heels. Kerr did a masterful job of mixing and matching lineups under the "position-less" concept.

We now have the talent, depth, and flexibility next season to emulate GS. It will be fun.

A hell of a bench!!!!!

If DJ is not hitting the outside shot I can absolutely see this lineup to start the season.

We will need to open the lane for both Precious and Wiseman and having those 3 guys on the perimeter will make teams pick their poison.

1st off the bench:
LQ
Lance Thomas
ALo or Harris
Baugh
Maurice

I AGREE , IF YOU GET IN AND CAN SCORE THE BALL AND DEFEND YOUR POSITION ,
YOU'LL STAY IN . EVERYONE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN TIME JUST GO IN AND EXECUTE . MAN IT'S NICE TO HAVE THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS .04-cheers

The word was the staff see Tucker playing the 3 and it makes sense because you don’t leave that much 3 pointers on the bench. However with Tucker possibly going pro then DJ would fill in that slot. I like that Penny has many options to play with

So, is recruiting finished? Is Watford still a possibility? What’s the latest on him?

Everyone is saying Watford is out for us. Hampton is still up in the air depending on what Tucker does.

FWIW, one of the Jason and John duo said Tucker may have an academic issue preventing enrollment at Memphis.
