You guys spent years whining about recruiting those type of guys (throwing in Adam H is desperate though). Now we get NKU's backup center who was rated in the 400s coming out of high school, who can't even help next year when we still should have some high-level talent that could use a few complementary parts, plus he's going to take up 3 years of a scholarship to play just 2, and the response from the everything-sucks crowd is positive? It doesn't say much for the consistency of your positions.

I will again say that I'm cool with Vogt because Brannen knows him and thinks he can play here. We need some guys for next year, though, because we aren't going to get a player the caliber of a senior-year Cumberland for at least a couple of years, so it'd be nice to put some pieces around him and have a great season in 2020.

It's as if people just find reasons to *****, Mick haters and Mick lovers alike.

Yeah seems to be getting worse. My take on him is I don't know if he is a starter caliber or bench guy, but he is a Bearcat now that is all that matters.

RE: Chris Vogt transfers to UC
I have no idea, but my guess is he wants one of his guys in here to help lead. The stereotypical lunch pail guy who puts in the work. A guy he trusts so he can give him good feedback on how the team is doing. Guy who can help be a bridge. A guy who can give him some solid minutes off the bench.

Not every recruit is a home run. Some are role players and that isn't sexy, but is necessary.

The best backup is not always a would-be starter who didn't crack the lineup.

I read that as essentially the same as levydl's position as well. But I think it's also fair of him to note the overall level of hypocrisy among some who consistently ran down many of Cronin's additions with even less impressive resumes. I'm not sure what makes that controversial or out of line.

I don't care about stars and all that, I know plenty of people do and that is fine. I will trust the coach to pick the players he feels can play in his system. Hopefully the guys he gets will represent UC the right way, be Bearcat tough, and win tons of games. (regular and post season) I felt the same way about Micks players. GOBEARCATS

Then it sounds like you weren't one of the posters he was referring to. I generally find a recruit's offers more telling than stars (which often seem to be the tail wagging the dog), but even getting accurate info about interest/offers/commitables is often dicey at best. Like you, I had developed a certain amount of confidence in Mick's ability to find fits for what he wants regardless of stars or other offers. I'm hopeful I'll soon the feel the same about Brannen, but let's be honest, he hasn't proven it at this level the way Mick did.

That's why he's taking notice of other ones. You always want what you can't have.

Honestly that is what happens to mid-majors. Their best prospect sometime leave them and move to high majors. They also get the benefit of high majors plausrs looking for playing time that are stuck on the bench transferring down.

Buford averaged like 20 a game for Huggs at Akron. He was a stud.

This year's prized transfer that everyone was drooling over was from UALR.

Not many guys transfer from Duke.

Guys transfer from everywhere. There are a couple from UK in the portal. If Brannen thinks raiding the Horizon league is going to get it done, that's fine. I just want UC to win basketball games in March.

Not many guys transfer from Duke.
Since 2012:
Jordan Tucker (to Butler)
Semi Ojeleye (to SMU)
Sean Obi (in from Rice, out to Maryland)
Rasheed Sulaimon (to Maryland)
Derryck Thornton (to USC, now transferring again)
Alex Murphy (to Florida)

Duke's even done well GETTING transfers:
Seth Curry (from Liberty)
Sean Obi (Mentioned above, had some monster seasons at Rice, but got hurt I think at Duke)
Rodney Hood (from Mississippi State)
Dahntay Jones (from Rutgers)

Also, it's impossible to project what Vogt will do at UC, as he was backing up the greatest player in program history at NKU.

More often than not players improve as they go through the college careers (remember the jump Justin Jackson made his senior year?). There's nobody on or off this board who knows who knows what Chris Vogt is going to do on the court for the next two/three years.

Low risk transfer IMO

Brannen knows him

He has a lot of scholarships open and took over April 14th when most of
2019 recruiting class was signed
