There being so many spots open, it seems unlikely that Brannen would tell them that it's best to part ways. This is just what happens when there's a coaching change.
I agree that Brannen probably isn't outright telling them that they won't get playing time, but people in the know have confirmed that both Fredericks and Nsoseme were looking into transferring even before Mick left due to concerns about playing time. That means that LoJo and Brooks are our only 2 transfers potentially motivated by a coaching change... which is actually pretty good. Plenty of programs lose more than half of their team when there is coaching turnover. I think Nebraska was down to 1 scholarship player.

I believe that's a realistic possibility too. He cannot and should not come out and say that in public out of respect for our scholarship players. But several of these guys were not going to fit with the coaching style he's demonstrated to date.
And if he's encouraged some to look elsewhere, that suggests to me he has transfers in the pipeline for this fall for his transition. I'm wondering now if Vogt who is leaving NKU may re-join his former coach soon?
From Cincinnati.com, by way of his Twitter account:
... Vogt said “this was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.” He said “I truly believe that coach Horn will continue to build on the traditions and success at NKU. But, it’s not the staff I committed to and it no longer feels like the right fit for me.”
Vogt, a 7-foot-1 center from Graves County in Mayfield, Ky., played every game last season, averaging 4.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for the Norse, who were the Horizon League champions. Vogt had a career game of 20 points, 14 rebounds and three assists in a home win over Green Bay. He had two games of 16 points in key league wins, and stepped up several times during the year when Drew McDonald missed time with injury.
Sounds like someone loyal to his former coach.

Given the open spots I would be fine with him. I feel like he could be a better backup big than Nsoseme whose offensive skills were very lacking and I really didn't see signs that they would come along (though there were rumblings of injury issues).

Probably needs to sit one. Could use him this year but in his case maybe sitting out a year would help his development. He was only 6'9" in high school so he probably has much to learn after that growth spurt.
In football and basketball in this new transfer era the NCAA really needs to come up with some consistent rules for football and basketball not favoring high profile schools and positions like quarterback. Maybe everyone should be allowed one transfer without penalty or everybody sits one except in the most extreme of circumstances. The graduate transfer thing is becoming a sham it is not working for the purpose it was originally created. Just make it equitable. Also maybe a rule on how often a player can enter the transfer portal. It will be miserable if players can shop themselves every year,

They got another in Samari Curtis. I heard he committed there yesterday.

Isn't a waiver often granted when the the head coach who recruited that player leaves? I know Anthony Buford had to sit a year when he followed Huggins from Akron but I feel the rules may have changed. Recruiting experts, what say you?

Vogt is an improvement vs Nsosme. I’ll take it.

I think that only applies to incoming freshman. Vogt would need to come up with really good reason for a waiver. It’s not like he can say it’s so he can closer to family

I’d just like to say two things about Nsoseme:
First half of the season, nobody in CBB was a better rebounder. Nobody. Then he looked lost after that in all facets for some reason.
Secondly, I’m just glad I don’t have to type Nsoseme anymore. Spellcheck is a cruel *****.

I'd love to have him available, but I have to side with you on this one. When I asked Chad Brendel the same question, his response was basically "Hasn't the Hudson situation taught you anything?"

So-soeme's career stats:
62 Games
8.5 Minutes/Game
0.4 Field Goals/Game
1.0 Field Goal Attempts/Game
0.3 Free Throws/Game
0.8 Free Throw Attempts/Game
2.5 Rebounds/Game
0.5 Blocks/Game
1.1 Points/Game
I guess we'll never know if he would've taken that next incremental, intermediate, half-step up in production for his Junior year.

FWIW...
On December 4th, 2018, in their only head-to-head match-up:
Nsoseme: 22 min, 2-4 FG, 2-2 FT, 6 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 0 fouls, 0 turnovers
Lurch: 22 min, 2-4 FG, 1-6 FT, 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 fouls, 1 turnover

I'm not sure why the debate on Vogt being a contributor next year is still going on. From what I have seen he will have to sit 1 then play 2. Brannen needs a big for next season. Diarra is not going to be ready for 20+ minutes a game.

I feel that Diarro is more than ready next season. He'll finally have a coach to teach bigs.

Playing in a 3,400 seat arena in the Sun Belt Conference. I wish him well and hope he's a starter there. I know he battled an injury this past season but it was hard to envision him getting much more in the way of meaningful minutes as an upperclassman, especially in what we expect to be Brannen's style of play.

Kid should have stayed. Would have played 10-12 minutes per game (more if her earned it) and competed once again for a conference championship and an NCAA bid before capacity home crowds every night. He'll get nothing of this at Georgia State.
