LOL at all of Mick's 'projects' bailing now that there is a new sheriff who might actually <gasp> expect them to play offense and <horrors> run the floor? Buh-bye. In with the new, the future looks bright to me...

to be fair, skyblade's been consistent with this. he's been saying it since the canada trip

My favorite was Kenny Belton almost air balling back to back FTs 02-13-banana

Belton made 8/22 for 36.4 FT% in his brief (injuries I believe) Bearcat career
Nsoseme made 17/52 for 33 FT% in his two season Bearcat career

You are being kind by calling Beltons free throw only an air ball. One of the shots was so far off track that even if it would have been far enough, it would have missed the back board. The worst free throw that I have ever seen in watching and playing forty three years of basketball.

I was really interested to see how the same (more or less) roster would play under a different coach, but I guess that's too much to expect in this day and age. Otherwise, agreed that it's time to move the "athletes" out and replace them with basketball players.

I'll be honest, I loved Nsoseme's game. His effort level was unmatched. He is the type of guy that makes everyone better just from an energy standpoint. I really hope he changes his mind.

There's no "lookback" for the title. Only guys currently playing. They move into the bad ft shooters hall of fame once their days are over.

The biggest concern with Nsoseme is Prince, this is a quote from an article when Prince was recruited:
Quote:Cincinnati also had another ace in the hole as Gillam and fellow Congo native and current Cincinnati sophomore Eliel Nsoseme had a long standing relationship dating back to their youth.

Nsoseme was offensively challenged, but I am convinced that injuries played a part in that. He moves as well as any big man I have seen and if he can develop the basketball skills he has the size, athleticism and mobility to play in the NBA. Transferring shouldn't hurt him as he probably should have been a redshirt anyway to give him more time to develop. It does leave a big(ger) void for us at center. Diarra is the only one left and he still needs to develop a lot too. Center and PG are both currently huge concerns for next year.

You either need to get your eyes examined or see more big men. He played with a lot of energy, but his soul strength was bodying up guys and rebounding. He wasn't any faster than most of the guys we/he faced. Also, had little spring in his jump at all. That was a big part of his struggles to score the ball. I predict he ends up in a lower league where he will face less athletic competition. Good kid and teamate, but not a great athlete. If he moved even halfway well, he would have scored the ball a lot more than he did which was almost never particularly against better teams. He did not have the "hops" to finish at the hoop.

I believe Diarro will vastly improve under Coach Brannen. Mick's staff wasn't exactly experts on biggies. Hopefully a graduate center will want to play at UC and help us.

There was a huge drop off from Brooks to Nsosome. I was actually getting to the point where I was more comfortable with Diarra in there instead.

I'm not real broken up about hearing this, but I guess I'd just like to be seeing some decent replacements showing up.

I didn't think Brannen seemed like a guy that would repel people, so I have to think that these guys were just comfortable with Tyrion Lannister in charge and maybe Brannen indicated that they may have to... I don't know... maybe work a little harder than they had been? Maybe?

He was upset he lost his rotation spot to Diarra.

His movement was elite for his size, he could guard any position well 1-on-1. Even small PG's he could stick to. He couldn't jump out of the building, but he got reasonable height. Overall was a very good athlete.

Athleticism does not equate to scoring. His problem was injuries and lack of basketball experience.

Doubt it. If he cared about playing time why'd he wait so long to transfer? After all, he would have had much more playing time then expected after Brooks left. Even if Diarra started Nsoseme would have been getting 10-15 minutes minimum and likely closer to 20 average.

I think Diarra will get there, but probably not for most of next year. Maybe by the end of the season if we are lucky. Brooks took until mid-season last year and he was much farther along in terms of basketball skills in the year prior year then Diarra was last year. Diarra needs playing time to improve, but it's probably going to be ugly for a while.

Doubt it all you want but it is a fact. He was looking to move even if Cronin stayed for that very issue.

Anyone else think Brannen is just being honest with these guys about their potential playing time, and the one's for whom the outlook is bleak are looking to move on?

There being so many spots open, it seems unlikely that Brannen would tell them that it's best to part ways. This is just what happens when there's a coaching change.
