WMU players enter portal
https://www.mlive.com/broncos/2019/05/wm...ortal.html

WMU's top receiver and number 2 running back just entered the portal. Both were true freshmen last year. The MAC is now the official feeder system to the P5, depressing but true.

Bowling Green QB Jarrett Doege in the portal too, crazy.

Imagine the number of transfers if no one year waiting period. The MAC would be the minor leagues for the P5 schools.

Agreed, but leagues like the MAC would also be able to poach the backups at P5 schools.

Started every game for the falcons. Threw for over 2600 hards and 27 touchdowns with a 62% completion percentage.

It would not be good.

Produce at G5, people have seen you. Leave P5 for G5 since lack of playing time, who knows what you are getting.

You want to keep a kid that played well or have a carousel of players coming in with limited time to see if they can learn system and produce?

Lot easier to learn and wait your turn than to keep transferring to finds right system/opportunity. I am going to guess the success rate is greater at a step up than down. And who knows really what a kid is thinking on a perceived move down. It's worked for NIU in some cases, but I would not want to have it the norm, a player swap situation on a yearly basis. We don't have 4-5* players waiting for an opportunity.

I agree that it may not be a great situation but Ross Bowers is taking a "step down" and I believe that everyone here is excited about that.

You're right ...it's all about opportunities

Sometimes the little guy wins, sometimes he loses...for us we got Erin Collins, Tre Harbison, Ross Bowers....Seth Collins and Demetrius Jones

The kids who come in as true freshman and perform will benefit the most. They can transfer, sit out a year (red shirt) then have three years to play at P5 school.

Technically Scholarships are only 1 year contracts. They can not be renewed.

When a coach like Manny Diaz can agree to be the head coach at Temple on December 12, sign a recruiting class on December 19 and then leave Temple for Miami on December 30, it is pretty hard to hold the student/athletes to a higher standard.

I agree with you. I just don’t like that it’s become a free for all. Commitment from players and coaches has become a loose word.

I am not a fan either of the fact that it is basically total free agency but I am not sure how they put the toothpaste back in the tube.

I have a feeling the MAC is going to be a lot worse this year than last. Ohio has already locked up the East and they haven't even played a down.
