RE: Zion out several weeks
Zion at some point has to develop the "old man" game, i.e. Zach Randolph. His body size is not conducive to his present game. He's a young Vince Carter with Zbo's body. At some point his body is going to break down, if it hasn't already. Zion should have a long NBA career, but it will not be as the highlight reel star we've come accustomed to.

I’ve been predicting bust for over a year now. because of knees and body type. He relies too much on athleticism for what he does. If you take his jumping ability away from him, is he even an NBA Talent? It was such a blessing the Grizz didn’t get the #1 pick.

I may eventually be proven wrong, but I am so glad we didnt get the number 1 overall. You basically HAD to draft Zion and I don't think his body is going to hold up for very long. I think he will end up being a lot like Greg Oden... a what could have been.

He probably needs to lose 20lbs and he'll be fine.

The problem with that is, it is that crazy size that makes him so unique. Once he cuts down to what should be his weight, he loses part of what makes him special.

Not sure I follow. What makes him special? Because he’s a large man with hops.

If he cut up and lost 20lbs he’d still be a big dude. His joints just wouldn’t have to support as much weight.

Then he becomes a too short dude that cant make up for his height with his strength. If he had some kind of really nice jump shot or something, sure, but most of his game is based off of his strength and athleticism.

Nah. He would still be strong at 265. He’s not an under the basket post player anyways. His athleticism is what he can’t afford to lose. If he stays at 285, he’s endangering his athleticism (and career) if he doesn’t tighten up.

Got to wonder if that knee was fully healed when he came back in the NCAA tourney last year

I think he was healed. Also think he is going to be injury prone. We will look back on these last 2 drafts, and see we got two of the best three players despite picking #4 and #2.

RE: Zion out several weeks
This is just not good for Zion. If he is ‘injury prone‘ in the same place, the knee is not good strong, and/or ‘healed’.

There is an imbalance/unevenness that is stressing that knee. I guess in the NBA they have trainer dudes that address the whole body, though.

Ugh... the last thing a young gifted athlete wants is a diagnosis called ‘injury prone’.

Bottom line. That’s why I like our new BB Strength trainer, Darby Rich. About Wiseman, Rich said, ‘He’s got a lot of physical gifts that are just God given. ..Broad shoulders good legs... we’ve got to tie together those unique qualities he has to make sure it all functions as one. He’s coming in extra on days off to do extra core work ...because if it’s not tied together in a good package, stuff will start to chip away.’

RE: Zion out several weeks
He needs to lose weight. Charles Barkley has to manage his weight to be successful in his early years in the NBA and he like Zion was known for his dunks, blocks and spectacular performance
