Agree. Hopefully the new management doesn’t over think this and play cute with the pick

That makes Jaren our Durant? And next year's pick our Harden (assuming we deal Conley and focus on developing our youth)?

Current rumor making the rounds is that Zion might return to Duke. He hasn't signed with an agent or made a shoe deal yet. Since Boogie left Duke they haven't been in a rush to fill that scholarship. Wouldn't that suck for us? I don't think there is much validity though.

Zion isn't going back to Duke. It's just not happening. Way too much risk involved.

Problem is they are going to have to take back Hayward. I just don't see the benefit of trading with Boston. Another issue is that Ainge is just smarter and he will win any trade the Grizz would potentially make with Boston.
Denver, LA, Indy those are the teams Memphis needs to deal with.

Yeah, it's a one day story. Zion wanted to go to the Knicks. He will quickly get over it.

Ja, you're right. I do wonder what's taking Zion so long to get an agent. I guess they are waiting for the best offer.

Question is does he need one?
Not initially at least...His first contract is set...No negotiations there.
And Companies are likely having a bidding war for his shoe contract. Hire a lawyer for your contract and shoe money.
Hire an agent after the initial contract and Let that agent earn their money on any future endorsement deals...Hire an agent now and the agent gets paid for essentially doing nothing but explaining contract details.

Agree 100% and have never understood it. Hire a contracts lawyer, pay him a nice fee. Instead of giving your agent 5% for doing almost nothing.
The answer for almost all is that they are already taking money from an agent, so there really is no decision to make.

Agents also line up endorsements, promos, potential book and movie deals/appearances, arrange itinerary, travel, etc...

Obviously. But lawyers can to that too. Lawyers work the contract for any shoe deal anyway.
Or, just pay the agent for the non-NBA contract work.
The initial contract is locked in. Jaylen Brown of the Celtics is one guy who didn't use an agent for his rookie contract. He seems to be doing fine.

4% is the MAX, and obviously it's negotiable.
