Nice to see the Canadians use the correct internationally recognized color schemes for the Right and Left, unlike us in the States.

You can thank Tim Russert for that. At some point during the Bush/Gore recount drama, he used the phrase “red states” and “blue states” to describe the opposing sides. For whatever reason, the labels just stuck and people have kept using them ever since.

Before that, the partisan red/blue color scheme would alternate every 4 years.
