It kinda rare these days when a P5 school visits a G5 school, like VaTech visited Old Dominion last year ( OD won it 04-rock).

As HCBC said at the Regions Golf Tournament, teams don't want to play UAB(FB) and its really getting difficult to schedule...

P5 programs prefer to always play OOC games as high profit home games - or special for TV - neutral site games at dome type venues. By refusing to play the better G5 opponents at all, they can always fall back on the "Who have they played?" plea to prevent the inclusion of such teams as UCF from playoff competition. Who "they" have played is public record while who has refused to play them is not. (How many OOC home games has LSU lost since UAB in 2000?)

That is one reason why the coach proposed 9 conference game idea is doomed since it would mean that a high profit G5 home game would have to be sacrificed every other year for a lower profit conference game. No "bottom line oriented" P5 AD would agree to that deal.

You do realize conferences are and have been playing 9 game schedules for a while now, right? Just because it isn’t Alabama or the SEC doesn’t mean it isn’t a thing.

No. I admit to not being familiar with all P5 conference power team's schedules. I am familiar with SEC schedules only because we are constantly reminded of them by local media. So just how many such P5 power teams always play 9 conference games annually?
