The reason I did post it though, is because one of our previous coaches was listed in the betting odds for the job. Additionally, the thread was created as to not derail another thread any further. We're good here. It's just good, general basketball conversation. It's not detrimental to the board.

Ok. Just asking for a friend. LOL

I doubt it, and is there any indication Webber wants to coach? Juwan Howard has been on an NBA bench as a coach for a while now. Howard makes much more sense than Webber, and wasn't it due to Webber that spawned all the investigations and led to the coach getting canned?

RE: OT: Next Michigan Head Coach
Webber was talking up Howard tonight during the game. Still, to most in the know, it's Joe Dooley's job to lose at this point according to Still "freaking" Jonesing. I mean we're talking about a man that will be getting 7, 8, 9, or 10 new guys next year! This is a mover and a shaker guys that is not satisfied with the status quo and several have 3 freaking stars too! When you see someone move like this, you have to take note because it's about winning now, not tomorrow. Forget APR....what's that and who freaking cares? Just win the freaking games baby!! It's about getting the job done and screw the guys in the program because they are scrubs.

If you're the Michigan AD, you have to see this and applaud. It's not about player retention, it's about fielding a freaking team. Capel knew this back in the day after a 30 plus beat down from UNCW at home so he admitted that he could have been better off by just getting a van and collecting talent from Broad "freaking" street to beat the Hawks. The man was ahead of his time, a revolutionary, if you will.

Bottom line...just win baby as Al Davis put it. That's all that matters...I guess? Me...I'd rather know the players names and all but who am I? A throwback? Old school? Yep, you got it right, Go Hawks!

Latest reporting from ESPN:

Juwan Howard in talks to be the next coach at Michigan. I was in elementary and junior high when the Fab Five were making their runs. I'm actually kind of excited to see what that ends up like.

I love this hire, but he will have big shoes to fill. John Beilein did an incredible job there, I hope Juwan can continue that success.

Interesting. He has no college coaching experience, as he's been a Heat assistant since 2013. It'll be interesting to see how he transitions to the college HC ranks.

I would imagine that he hires a staff with plenty of college experience.

Absolutely. He needs a veteran assistant with lots of recruiting experience.

Nothing personal against Howard but it makes zero sense to me that Michigan would return to that era.

You mean the era where they dominated college basketball alongside UNC and Duke, and had some of the best recruits in the nation?

Yeah. Who would want to return to that kind of winning and excitement?

You should go let them know. Lol

If I was Michigan , Howard would be my man. Sound like they have made their deal. I would be excited as a fan.

RE: OT: Next Michigan Head Coach
LOL... Juwan Howard is respected as much as anyone in the basketball world, can call up Lebron, Dwade, Pat Riley and put them on the phone with a potential recruit at any given time. To think something that happened 30 years ago when he was 19/20 years old would keep him from getting a job he well deserved would’ve been a egregious mistake by the university. It actually makes more sense for them to return to the Fab Five era because it’s a brand that has stood the test of time... I mean people were still bringing them up this past season comparing them to Duke. Idk if Howard can coach in the college game, but I can guarantee you he will be bringing in plenty of 5 star recruits.

Watch the 30 for 30 on the Fab Five. Howard recruited most of his team mates.

Lol. Ummmmm. We know. Not sure how old you were back then, but Howard was also cleared of any wrong doing related to all of that. When you look at all the recent college basketball scandals, that one doesn’t seem all that egregious anyways.

Gotcha. I think Michigan has a lot to be excited about with that hire. Seems as good a get as any would've been considering the talented coach they just lost to the NBA.

My deal is with all the qualified coaches out there looking for a job why would you even consider going back to the blackeye era of the Fab Five and all that crap. Move on with it already and hire a college coach. Maybe he works out but I doubt it. I also didn't see them considering this guy so I have been wrong from the start.

How is he NOT a qualified coach? He played college ball. Assisted with the recruitment of his own teammates. Went to two national championship games as a player. He then played in the NBA for 19 seasons, for eight franchises and winning two championships. That’s almost two full decades of professional playing experiences and building relationships and contacts with players, coaches and front offices. Then he coached under a guy that won two of those NBA championships.

How is he not qualified?

The Fab Five era is NOT a black eye... That's what you're missing here. People don't think of the Fab Five and say "I wish that didn't happen" lol, they just talk about how cool they were, and how they changed the culture of college basketball. Made an impact on the game that is still seen today.
