MyBB OT: Next Michigan Head Coach
I didn't want to derail the other thread any further, but did find this interesting piece that names Kevin Keatts as a possible name for the next Michigan coach. I suppose it's not out of the realm of possibilities considering Michigan has the pockets to buy out and more than likely far exceed a contract NCSU could continue to offer.

Would certainly be poetic justice.

I'd venture to say even CJ would be choking on exhaust fumes in that scenario. Unless he was able to use his sit-out year as a way to pile on courses and graduate early.

Yep, Grad Transfer would be his only option there.

Might be too late though unless he's able to quickly pack a lot of Summer classes in. This late in the game he might be a Grad Transfer that is only eligible in January.

I doubt seriously Michigan would take a chance on Keatts.

He is from ACC country and State is paying him well. I could see him leveraging interest for a raise

Keatts won't leave NC State for Michigan unless they offer him something ridiculous. His setup in Raleigh is pretty good as of now, if he misses the tourney again this upcoming season the fan base will begin to turn on him though.

In regards to the Michigan job, I would love to see Slick Rick get a shot. My secondary choices would be Juwan Howard or Ed Cooley.

Michigan is a top program and why would they consider Slick Rick,Keatts or Juwann Howard? Howard maybe but the other two guys are asking for trouble IMO. Cooley is not a realistic pick there either. Would UNC consider these guys ?

Michigan is not up there with UNC in regards to basketball prestige. Let's not forget Michigan is a football school. Juwan Howard is interviewing for NBA HC jobs, and you don't think he's worthy for a shot at his alma mater? interesting... I was just throwing some names I think are viable candidates. Feel free to do the same... Keep in mind, this late in the coaching carousel process will effect the caliber of coach they go after. This will scare away guys who are already at top tier programs.

I don't think an NCAA P6 school touches Pitino with a 1,000 ft pole at this point. If he lands another gig it will have to be either in the NBA or NCAA Mid-Major and below.

I think you're right about that, but I personally would like to see him back in college basketball.

Rick Pitino's denials supported by new evidence in college basketball trial

I actually read Pitino's book that came out last fall. It was a really good read for anyone that might be interested. It's hard for me to sit here and say he was completely oblivious, but I think he knew far less than some other coaches at schools that are involved who still have their jobs. Sean Miller and Will Wade specifically.

No doubt that UM is not UNC but who is ? After you get past the very top programs you get to schools like Michigan and they can be choosy and should be. Howard takes them back to a scandal ridden era o that I think most real Michigan fans would rather keep in the rearview mirror. It is a football first school but they are solid in hoops and I hope they get a standup guy by they jus t had and not some halfass car salesman like Keatts.

Why are we talking about Michigan. Does anybody really care? This thread at least needs to be moved.

Actually, I think this thread - entitled " OT: Next Michigan Head Coach"- is properly located!

Yeah... It has an "OT" at the front for a reason. Allows proper warning that it doesn't involve much concerning UNCW. The reason I did post it though, is because one of our previous coaches was listed in the betting odds for the job. Additionally, the thread was created as to not derail another thread any further. We're good here. It's just good, general basketball conversation. It's not detrimental to the board.

Long shot, but would Michigan try and fix ties with Chris Webber? He seems to be doing well in the broadcast booth.
