C-USA Sunbelt merger---sort of
It's not the big merger/realignment we've been drooling about but it's something. C-USA is expected to begin sponsoring women's beach volleyball for the 2020-2021 academic year with members UAB, USM, FAU, and FIU all pulling out of the CCSA. GA St (also CCSA), Coastal Carolina (A-Sun), and ULM (Indy) coming on board as affiliates.
ODU and Charlotte are also looking to add the sport.
Maybe this cooperation open the door for similar arrangements in other sports. Maybe some OOC collaboration in a few sports. LA Tech probably still stonewalls ULM--not sure the conference office can do much about it though.

You overlooked Tulane, who is also in the CCSA and is the only AAC school to sponsor the sport (I think). The move would slash travel costs by up to two thirds and allow for more home matches. Plus, it sets up conference tournaments on sunny beaches in the South.

IIRC, a scheduling agreement in bball starts this coming season. Seems like another conference (Horizon?) might be involved in CUSA/SBC pod scheduling as well, but haven't read anything about it in a while.

Yep. Starts this year.
https://sunbeltsports.org/news/2018/6/4/...-plan.aspx
Quote:Men’s Basketball Non-Conference Scheduling Alliance
As a first step for improving non-conference scheduling, Sun Belt men’s basketball teams will reserve two dates in the non-conference portion of their schedule to play against peer conference opponents. Each team will have one home opponent and one away opponent from this scheduling alliance. The scheduling alliance will fully begin with the 2019-20 season, though some games may be part of 2018-19 schedules

Is that against C-USA teams?

Tulane is staying behind in the CCSA with TCU, LSU, Fla St, S Car, UNC-W, and College of Charleston. They need to make sure they have enough members for both the new C-USA conference and CCSA to have autobids. Plus with the whole P6 campaign Tulane thinks they belong with the big kids. I imagine the CCSA will eventually be all big schools.

Tulane sponsoring beach volleyball?????
Are they going to wear hockey masks? How do you keep that many dogs from digging in the sand? The catholic church should show up to scout for nuns. No big deal, Tulane is used to sparse crowds.
