The Realignment Mock Draft
https://csnbbs.com/thread-876177.html

Quote:The Rules:
- Conferences pick in reverse order of last year's conference Sagarin ratings
- Conferences first declare 5 teams protected. Those teams are the initial 5 that the conference starts with. All non-protected teams then become "free agents."
- Conferences use the 7 rounds of the draft to accumulate 12 teams total. If for any reason a conference has less than 12 teams at the conclusion of the 7 rounds, they are granted as many immediate compensatory draft picks as is necessary to reach 12.
- Conferences can pick a "free agent" team of peer status or lower (P5 -> G5 -> FCS). This means the SoCon can't pick Coastal Carolina and the Sun Belt can't pick Alabama and so on.
- Conferences can negotiate trades for both teams and picks or a combination of the two though I as commissioner must agree to them to make sure we have no shenanigans going on to empty out conferences

If the CAA want's in (insert saber rattling from me here as GM of the SoCon), this is a good spot to start nominating a GM and thinking about which 5 teams you want to protect.

Hell, I do not even know the actual CAA knows what they want and you want fanbases to figure it out? If you take a GM from W&M/JMU it will be a virginia/nc conference only. If you have any of the other schools as GM it would be interesting the direction they would go. The first question to answer would be football or basketball

I nominate Deez Nutz from the JMU board as the CAA GM.

I believe the intent of the exercise is football only. That's all that matters, after all. 03-wink

Sure. My point was tongue in cheek since it stated its football. Basing our conference on football has limited appeal and really only JMU and W&M will give 2 *****. Fun exercise, sure if you want a football centric conference, which we are definitely not. My point was when ever discussing this topic about the CAA it starts at "Football or Basketball" for perspective so nobody jumping at the bit for football only should not have been surprising.

RE: The Realignment Mock Draft
At the FCS level, there are so many schools in different conferences because their normal conference doesn't exist for Football. Of the last 11 FCS Finals, the only one between teams in the same conference for Football and other sports was Eastern Washington's win over Delaware on January 7, 2011. Of the other ten, seven were won by NDSU, one was Youngstown State losing to JMU, one was won by Richmond, and one was won by Villanova.

RE: The Realignment Mock Draft
Looks like the draft started, I guess the CAA is officially going basketball-only for draft purposes. Works for me. :D
