Anyone catch wind of anything? Paging dekalb222. . .
I've heard we're interested in Anthony Beane from Little Egypt who'd bring Darius and Jimmy Beane with him (Jimmy harder sell than Darius).

Darius is the better of the two Beane's. Jimmy was a walk-on who was not offered a scholarship for next year by SIU.

Read his resume on the SIU website, and with what success they seem to be building in the MVC, have to opine that if A. Beane came here it would be with an eye on eventual head coach. Otherwise not a move up for him.

Umm, when you say "what success they seem to be building", you do realize they fired his boss (Barry Hinson). In an April 2019 Southern Illinoisian article, Bryan Mullins (ex-Saluki they hired off Loyola's staff) said he would have a completely new staff. In other words, Anthony Beane Sr. needs a new job (which hardly makes him a candidate to be an eventual head coach at NIU). The article also notes the "Salukis haven't made the postseason since competing in the NIT in 2008. SIU made six straight NCAA Tournament appearances before that from 2002-07.
Granted, Monty's mediocrity is on par with those achievements.

Thanks for doing more work for better info, which I did not do beyond reading the official SIU on Beane. Adding this for some depth from May 10 ...

I was aware Hinson was fired. I was not aware of Mullins' comments.

You know what is startling? You read that article, and at first you think; Wow! things are really bad at SIU right now! Only 4 guys on the roster!!! And by the end you realize, "Man, as bad as things appeared at SIU, things are actually already better than at NIU right now! whoa!"

Thanks for posting that. I should have. It's the one I looked at originally when I went a little too far with my speculation.

RE: BB Assistant Position
Welcome Anthony and Darius! Darius is mega-talented and one of the best all-around players NIU will have in years. Maybe Jimmy will join him.
