I could be wrong, but the way I understand it is this. If you're dealing with a conference, you're not gaining the right to grab a next level up team, you're just repositioning yourself to take liike level teams within your conference.

So if we swapped pics with the sun belt, we're actually moving back a spot, and if we get the SEC pick we're only able to take another g5.

If I'm reading this right, the real smart move would be to acquire a lot of early pics, and gain comp free agent grabs after the draft is over.

draft picks won't net us power teams, but free agents after the draft might.

That Southern Miss upset and subsequent Hawaii Bowl selection is such a CUSA move.

But in this fake draft, I want to see Southern Miss either get a crack at an AAC selection, or back with us.

I don’t think it would be good to see Southern Miss go to the Sunbelt. Ick.

The first thing you do after not protecting any Texas teams is draft a Texas team. Footprint is part of the criteria. We aren't going to get points for revenue or winning with your protects. Might as well score with footprint, except now we're back in Texas. Uggh

Hopefully you can trade Houston for something closer to our core.
