Classic.

If Mayor Buttigieg is smart, he will embrace this image and make it his trademark -- much like Sen. McConnell has embraced he "Cocaine Mitch" slur that has now become a powerful brand.

But that would require a sense of humor - - something that is completely foreign to progressives.

Actually, given all I know about both, I would prefer Alfred E. Neuman over Pete Buttigieg.

Mayor Pete might be — repeat, *Might Be* — an exception to that rule. I think I’ve seen some subtle hints of that. Hard to be certain. But we’ll see.

There is no humor section in the liberal library.

Actually Mayor Pete had a classic response.

"I had to Google that. I guess it's a generational thing. It’s kind of funny, I guess."

So he took it in stride while pointing out how old and out of touch with America Trump is. Just because some old farts here think it's funny doesn't mean it will resonate with anyone under 25. Or even under 35. When was the last time Mad Magazine was relevant? In the 1970's maybe?

all that tells me is he doesn't have the lifetime experiences req'd to be an effective leader of a multi-layered/multi-gen country....

Yep.

As I said, given a choice between Mayor Pete and Alfred E. Neuman, my vote would go to Alfred E. Neuman.

Yup!

There’s that sense of humor from the left, on broad display.

I'm 36, and I'd agree with Mayor Pete on this one.

To me, Mad Magazine is like jokes based on Archie comics or Betty Bop.

If you're too young& naive to know what Mad Magazine was, or who Alfred E Neuman is, then you are going to simply going to vote for who you're told to vote for, and it doesnt really matter.

Oh I know what it is intellectually. I'm also familiar with vaudeville, Birth of a Nation, Ragtime, Poor Richard's Almanac, and Thomas Paine's Common Sense. But none of those things stir any emotions in me because I was born after the invention of cable TV.
