Guys leave after a coaching change. Had Cronin stayed, I would not have expected Johnson or Brooks to transfer. I don't see what's so objectionable about that.

They participated in Brannen's workouts and then decided to bail. That's the scary part.

And he is having trouble hiring anyone of note for assistant positions. And he has signed a tweener from Moeller. Oh Boy - excuse me for looking at the facts instead of the Cronin hate.

According to Johnson's OWN MOTHER, the primary reason he's looking to transfer out is "to be closer to family." Is it possible that this has NOTHING...nada, zip, bupkus...to do with "Brannen's workouts"? At least possible?

Brooks leaving likely has more to do with Mick leaving than the incoming new coach. Because, let's face it, he was fairly loyal to "Mick" and he's jumping from a "known unknown" to a purely "unknown" situation at Miami. Maybe it is "about" Brannen, but he certainly didn't give it much of a chance if that's the case. So, yeah "if Mick had stayed," then Brooks probably "stays" as well. But I don't think it's a corollary that "if we had hired anyone but Brannen" that "Brooks would have stayed." Brooks left...for whatever reason. Just leave it alone.

And, let's be honest. Even "if Mick had stayed," Jarron Cumberland was always a question mark. As a matter of fact, there's been a fair amount of speculation that JC's decision was a major reason WHY "Mick left"... that, somehow Mick was aware of, or suspected that, JC wasn't coming back and so he made the jump while the tide was at it's highest.

So I think it's highly unfair and speculative to say, "These guys 'saw' Brannen's workouts and left."

I was down on Bohn as an ad hire as well especially because of his involvement in the Colorado debacle with butchy. I do have to give the guy credit that he has hired what seem to be some great coaches so far, not including Brannen yet.

Rag why so negative now? I used to look forward to reading your post and insight but man the negativity is overwhelming.

To be fair, compared to last years off-season that's not a particularly negative take. You want to see real negativity there are some threads from last year I could recommend you.

If you want a serious answer...what great coaches? Brian Kelly was a great coach. Bob Huggins was a great coach. Mick Cronin was a great coach. Tim Murphy was a great coach. Dantonio and Kennedy (horrible situation here but proved his worth in the SEC) weren't bad either.

So far Bohn has hired a football coach that had a great season with CTT players and got destroyed against UCF and had a bad loss in Philly. That was last year. The year before, Marshall embarrassed his team at home - and we were lucky to win any FBS games. We will see this year now he has many of his players even though Ridder and the Truck are Tommy's. I'm hopeful.

Women's hoops could not have gone anywhere but up. Michelle may actually be his best hire on paper. But can she even get close to UConn - no.

Baseball has been no better than .500 and proved who they were by getting swept by ECU at home. After losing then to Cryami, they are 4 games below .500. Great coach?

And to replace a guy that won back to back 30 games seasons, 9 straight tournament appearances, after receiving a program that was gutted, our AD made a national search by interviewing Savino and NKU's coach. LOL - but it satisfied the grass is always greener crowd.

Mick left. I was OK with that. But the lack of effort in truly finding the right coach to keep UC's momentum going was appalling. As one large UC donor explained to me privately...."He is in over his head"

Great coaches....that's funny.

Mick Cronin is not a great coach. Good not great. Solid B maybe even a B plus at times but great coaches win NCAA tournament games, beat thier rival, and raise the program to new heights. Mick didn’t do any of those things. 89 wins and two conference tournament championships are very good. Not great because he couldn’t finish the job in 2018. It’s like when a student flunks the final exam after doing “A” work all year.

Kelly was a great coach, Luke looks to headed that way. Kelly with results on the field, Luke with local recruiting have changed the perception of UC football. UC can win big and recruit Cincinnati.

Dantonio was the short term version of Cronin. Good program builder, blah coach. Jones was a joke with his dumb sayings but UC played hard for him. Tommy T....disaster awful.

Sorry...but we have different opinions on what is a great coach.

But I will give Bohn one small pass in that he is hamstrung by the lack of revenue generated by the mid-major conference we find ourselves left in. It has to be incredibly tough to try to make UC big time with little time money.

agree on all except Jones. Jones was a placeholder that kept the talent and won some significant games. He was very similar to Mick.

This post is loaded with more drivel than a standard Duane Norman post. I'm assuming your big donor friend is the one that tried to sue his way out of his club seats. It certainly isn't Carl Lindner.

You're either trolling us or delusional... Because citing Tim Murphy as a great coach when he only mustered one winning season in his five years here is laughable. He simply wasn't a good coach at UC. Also, Andy Kennedy... Two NCAA tournament appearances in twelve seasons at Ole Miss.

You'd be hard pressed to find more than five examples of an AD that meets your lofty standards in all of NCAA Division I.

If this is really what you think, you're part of the problem.

If you were actually around during Tim Murphy's years you would understand that any winning season would be similar to BK's undefeated year. Andy Kennedy was SEC Coach of the Year - twice.

But of course you are just another blowhard that has helped run off another strong contributor. You must be a Bohn athletic supporter.

I was a proponent of Cronin and his strategy for running a program, and now that he's gone I'm a proponent for Brannen until proven otherwise.

I find it more difficult to leap to the conclusion that Bohn sucks at his job than to see positive change overall with the AD. But, sure, I'm the negative blowhard that is causing people to jump ship. Or were you talking about Duane?

Good luck with that.

This off-season becomes a lot more tolerable if you make it your Banter off-season as well. Check in once every few days--fire still burning--and reclaim my seat once we beat UCLA.

Great coaches....that's funny.

Let me get this straight... according to you:

Tim Murphy was a great coach
Andy Kennedy was a great coach
Luke Fickell is unproven (after the biggest increase in win total of all NCAA FB, and the best recruiting UC FB has ever seen)
Michelle Clark-Heard is unproven (despite winning more games in her first season than any other coach in UC WBB history)
Mike Bohn is an idiot

I never make personal insults on this board, and I'm not about to start, but... wow. Just wow.

I could debate your absurd points with facts and logic, but as they say... you can't reason someone out of an opinion that they didn't reason themselves into.

Are you speaking about the quality posts when UC was actually playing for something? I guess the other quality posters from back then are smarter than me. They all just bailed instead of conforming to the love of mediocrity that persists today. Another announced his intention to leave just a few hours ago.

To be fair, compared to last years off-season that's not a particularly negative take. You want to see real negativity there are some threads from last year I could recommend you.

To be fair I can recommend some other boards you should go and post on instead of here.
