Time to sell a grad transfer on an immediate starting time. I don't think Cumberland comes back to this.

Why bounce around the G League when you could come back and become a top 3 all time scorer at UC? If he could somehow will next year's team to the tournament he could go down as one of the absolute all time greats in Bearcat great. (Hi Jarron :)
Can Jarron improve his draft prospects playing for a team that might not make the tourney? To me, overseas $$$ > another year of marginal impact to his draft stock. He's going to really have to buy into Brannen's plan for this coming year to forego professional basketball.

Uh, I really don't think that would be hard for him to do. Unless Brannen is a total doofus, his plan is going to be for Cumberland to get his and then some.

He basically took a team that without him doesn’t even sniff the NCAA tournament. If he comes back he will be fine and so will UC.

Cumberland was great last year and will be next year if he returns. But last year we had a team with quite a few other very good players. Cumberland can't do it all.

Scott, Brooks and Jenifer were all well above average players. Broome could also carry the load at times. Next year we still have Scott, but we currently have a huge void at point (likely need to add two players) and extremely unproven players at center. Plus questions around the SG as well.

Cumberland returning does not guarantee we make the tournament. We need to add quite a few other players even with Cumberland's return to have a shot.

Contrast this with the post from Brooks' guardian. Hope he comes back, but best of luck to him if he doesn't.

Ouch.

What is the politically correct amount of time that Brannen needs to be on the job so that he can have actual apologists? His only support seems to be coming from just the bile of the Mick haters.

Come on, Mick got 13 years and some people still called for patience. Mick's assistant hires were no more high profile than Brannen's, CJB hasn't coached a game here yet, and it will take a few years to even begin to compare recruiting and player development.

Brannen is trying to put together a team at the 11th hour of the 2019 cycle, and 2 of the 3 transfers out were completely out of his hands. Fredericks was going to transfer regardless due to lack of playing time, and Johnson needs to be closer to his family due to some major family issues. If Jarron decides to play in the G league or Europe, again, there's nothing Brannen can do other than offer JC an opportunity to develop and showcase his skills. Brooks is the ONLY player we are losing that probably would have stayed if Mick were still the coach... but that doesn't mean it's Brannen's fault.

CJB has been here approximately 0.6% of the time Mick was here... give him a chance before crapping all over him like you do everything else UC related. I can tell from what other people say that you're a diehard fan, and I respect that about you, but your takes on CJB are way off base and completely unreasonable.

Not to be the cynic, but it's extremely unlikely LoJo would have transferred if Mick were still here. And family issues are enough to get a waiver in the current NCAA climate, so there could be an extra reason he's claiming them (not that I don't think he has them, just that I don't think they would have been a big enough deal for him to transfer if Mick were still here).

So, hepblade, you must know all of the details of Lojo's family issues to make such a statement. Otherwise you are just talking out of your butt.

I had no problem LJ on the team. I liked his hustle and he made some really good plays.

But come on, he didn't even get on the floor in some games.

Where I'm really sweating Cumberland's decision and I do wish that Brooks had stayed, to LJ I would say thanks for your efforts and good luck to ya.

wouldn'it be, lojo a gogo? logan was sweet as hell. i was very curious to see what type of player he'd develop into. those fast break blocks were unreal. crazy abandon. that hair. he had great energy even on the bench

i think he'd be a good fit for like oregon st if he were to leave the portal to back west. hope he comes back but we'll somehow survive

Were people talking about Johnson as a potential transfer before Cronin left?

Guys leave after a coaching change. Had Cronin stayed, I would not have expected Johnson or Brooks to transfer. I don't see what's so objectionable about that.

C'mon counselor, do some research over this Mother's Day weekend, and show my disdain for Fickell. I think very little of Bohn - so all his hires are under question until proven.

They participated in Brannen's workouts and then decided to bail. That's the scary part.

And he is having trouble hiring anyone of note for assistant positions. And he has signed a tweener from Moeller. Oh Boy - excuse me for looking at the facts instead of the Cronin hate.

I was down on Bohn as an ad hire as well especially because of his involvement in the Colorado debacle with butchy. I do have to give the guy credit that he has hired what seem to be some great coaches so far, not including Brannen yet.

Rag why so negative now? I used to look forward to reading your post and insight but man the negativity is overwhelming.

Especially when you consider that Cronin had very, very few transfers (an abnormally low rate for college basketball). Guy who did transfer were guys who clearly didn't belong (Quadri Moore and Ge'Lawn Guyn) and were given multiple chances to succeed before they left.

I think even Rashawn Fredericks may not have transferred if Mick stayed (no way any new coach could have kept him though). I would have been amazed if Brooks or Johnson transferred had Mick stayed.

Guys leaving is normal for coaching changes. Brannen isn't at fault for them leaving, it's just part of life in college basketball.

I kinda agree but my concern is that we have no PG’s on the team next year. That said, in the long run I think we will be fine but we may have a down year depending on how the rest of the off season, recruiting, and Jarron’s decision go. Still though I have faith Brannen will get the program headed in the right direction and in the long run we will be better off.
