RE: Tony Pollard signs 4 year deal
Why do they put out the article before the terms are public?

First question that comes to mind after reading the article title is " How much?"

Read article, first question that comes to mind "But, seriously, how much?"

Read article, first question that comes to mind "But, seriously, how much?"

And more importantly, how much is guaranteed.

Yes! I don't care if they gave him a 4 year 2 mil a year contract if there is no guarantee it really doesn't mean anything. They could cut him tomorrow and owe nothing.

RE: Tony Pollard signs 4 year deal
Every pick in the NFL draft is slotted for salary purposes. Rookies have basically no negotiating power. All picks in rounds 2-7 sign 4 year contracts, which again are good for the team. If they player becomes a star in year 1, they are stuck on their rookie deal for 3 more years. If the player flames out, they get cut.

Minimum contract for a rookie in 2019 is $495,000.

Here's rough value of what a 4th round pick could make if they stay employed for all 4 years of the contract: https://heavy.com/sports/2019/04/nfl-dra...g-bonuses/

NFL Draft Contracts: Rounds 4 -7

Round Total Value
Round 4 $3,324,499 to $3,006,531
Round 5 $2,868,832 to $2,753,988
Round 6 $2,728,511 to $2,647,353
Round 7 $2,631,885 to $2,594,288

I personally think the NFL has the best rookie contracts for the sport.

August 17 exhibition game between COWBOYS and RAMS should be worth putting on your calendar.

I guess the financial experts here that declared that Pollard, a recent College Graduate, was making a mistake not coming back to play another year for free think an average of $750,000 is low for a recent college grad?

Let's hope Tony does a great job in the NFL and sticks around for the full 4 years. Like you said, there is very little negotiating power for the players and 4 years in the NFL is slightly more than an average tenure. We may have to bump this thread every year to see how long Tony stays in the NFL.

And, I think Tony already graduated, correct? If so, WOW, great job Tony and be wise with your new found money!

I expect Pollards BBQ is due for a make-over. Really good Q but the dining room and parking lot both need work.

Last year’s 128th pick signed for $3.07M and the only guaranteed money for 4th Rd is typically signing bonus. $610k for that guy last year. So about $635k for Pollard.
