FAU has pretty good odds to catch us in the race for 1st place. Rice is going to be a tough opponent on the road.

RE: May 10-12 baseball games
I'm wondering how in the world we'll be able to play games this weekend. Houston is getting pounded by rain tonight. Our field drains well but this will test it to the ultimate limit. My guess is they won't even try to play tomorrow but maybe 1 Saturday and 2 on Sunday if possible?

If past years is still happening I'm pretty sure we took a bus so the Sunday travel curfew would be as late as possible which I think is you can't start an inning after 5 pm (or maybe 6); therefore a Sunday DH would be possible/feasible.

WKU @La Tech has been moved to Ruston HS due to unplayable field conditions in Monroe.

Charlotte at UAB has been moved to a HS field due to the hundreds of fans attending the softball tournament on their campus. At least the HS has a turf field that will hopefully help with the rain.

They did get game 1 in today at Rice (but moved it up to 2 pm because what rain we might get today is supposed to be tonight). Actually the weather is decent today - I still think the field must be a swamp. The rains are supposed to return tomorrow so we'll see what happens then.

USM up 1-0 on Rice after 3 complete. USM's pitcher had a 5 pitch first inning

**edit** USM's Matt Wallner leads off the 4th with a solo HR, his 50th career which ties his 2nd all time in school history. All time leader is 53 so Wallner is within reach of it. Considering the leader was a 4 year player it makes me wonder how much Wallner would smash the total if he stuck around for his senior season which ain't happening

Rice tied it at 2 in the bottom of the 5th but hit into a bases loaded inning ending DP. USM comes right back in the top of the 6th with back to back walks, a sac bunt followed by a 2 run single to end the day for Rice's starter who was at 101 pitches through 5.1 innings.

-USM gets a run on freshman Danny Lynch's 1st career HR to go up 5-2
-Rice threatens in bottom 7 getting first 2 on but hits into the 4th DP of the game and USM holds on to a 5-2 lead after 7.

Isn't Patel responsible for the first of these two runs?

The tying run was walked by Patel. Would that be earned since he was walked though?
