ODU defeats Marshall 6-5 in 10 innings today in Norfolk.

Rain is in the forecast for both Saturday and Sunday so who knows if they will get in the next 2 games.

In the 9th owls get two-run single plus a roadrunner error. They then Sac fly to go ahead 5 - 4. In the bottom half after we load the bases we get Only One RBI before the Finish to tie back at 5. We now go to extras.

Post game fight may suspend some players for tomorrow. According to the radio call the third strike to end the game the bat hit the WKU catcher in the forearm--he held on to the ball--but keeled over in pain. Both benches emptied and a lot of shoving. Our players are frustrated because they have pissed away sooooo many games this season and kept themselves out of an at-large bid.

The tying run was walked by Patel. Would that be earned since he was walked though?

I did not say "earned". I am not sure what the terminology here is. I did say "responsible for". The tying run got on bases when patel was pitching.

It didn’t look that bad to me. Intense, yes. Looked like it got taken care of quickly. It will be a shame if guys get suspended for that

I don’t think there is anything surprising to people who follow C-USA baseball closely about a Tech baseball team getting in a fight.

Having a huge chip on your shoulder seems to be a requisite for playing there.

Yes.

Unearned runs involve an error or passed ball. Everything else is earned.

I don’t think there is anything clear about who initiated it from that video unless you know what was said. Even then, unless the WKU closer said something really personal, you keep walking and let them check on their catcher. The answer to whose fault a conflict is is rarely one side.

And I’m not saying that this (or any other problems that come up in their games like the deal with Rice a few years ago) is all Tech’s fault. If your opponents let y’all get under their skin, that is on them too.

I actually think the type of attitude Tech has really works for them. I’m just not going to be surprised when the benches clear in one of their games.

I agree. This is baseball. And **** gets said. Every. Single. Game. He should've just continued to walk back to the dugout. He could've even said a few choice words of his own as he did. But, instead, he decides to turn around and get in the pitcher's face.

There was pushing, shoving, really ugly and inappropriate language, and a lot of very hurt feelings and unfriending on social media after that exchange. It was just horrible and some of those players need a 15 minute 'timeout' to think about what they've done.
