Gators to play non-con game out of state...
Florida has scheduled a game at Colorado for September 8, 2029.

If that game is played, it will be the Gators' first non-conference football game out of state in 38 years. Their last one was at Syracuse on September 21, 1991.

This would count as the first true road game as far as non-conference opponents go, but I think they've played neutral site games out of state in recent years as well.

But outside of that, I don't give Florida much grief for stuff like that. They've got Florida State on the schedule every year and in most years that's a more competitive match-up than most play on an annual basis. They've also got pressure to play Miami on a semi-regular basis.

So there's not much motivation for them to leave the state for non-conference opponents.

True that they have no motivation there. They only have to win the SEC to make the playoff, no matter who else they play.

The Gators don't play Miami very often, though. They last played in 2013, they are playing a one-off game this fall, and after that there are no future games scheduled between the Gators and Canes.

I'd be ok with Florida stating instate in the OOC if they were playing both Florida St and Miami annually but the Miami match ups are few in far between. P5s need to be playing 10 P5 games in the 12 game regular season.

Agreed. 8 SEC + FSU + Miami is perfect for Florida and college football.

Georgia does it. So does Clemson. Few others do, though.

@ChuckCarltonDMN

Texas confirms long-rumored home-and-home football series with Florida for 2030 and '31.
