While any attraction which brings in out of towners is good for the city economically. The value of the SHC is grossly overestimated.

True, we do not own the LBS, but we are the largest and oldest tenant and we are accountable for a lot of the upkeep cost. Do not forget if the tourism zone does not meet the minimum requirement to make the payment on the upgrades, then the U of M is responsible for making up the shortage up to a certain point each year. SHC is only on the hook for their rental fees and nothing else.

Was waiting for Nascar guy to chime in with his usual degree of racial sensitivity.

Counter any one of my statements with actual facts. Every last thing I mention is factual. And it is you who brought race into the picture.

probably the reason they brought your being a racist into the thread is that you constantly have bad things to say about black public figures, maybe it is a coincidence but the trend is unmistakable . 03-idea

I take a position against those whom i disagree with based on substance, not my fault that their racial makeup is as it is. Steve "Chicken Little" Cohen is not black but I have taken a strong stance against him. Darrel Wallace Jr is black and I have come out in strong support of him. Do not paint me with a broad brush because of others obsession with race. Race NEVER comes into play in any of my posts unless someone else raises the issue first.

But you must admit a guy who himself proposes the city changes the name of a street to honor him????? That has to be one egotistical SOB.

Well, looks like he has found a way to get it named after himself.

Its got a map in the story. I’ve been in the area often. My church adopted LaRose Elem.

It is a high poverty area with every economic and education obstacle you could ever list. To have someone from the community achieve something significant is very significant. SHC is a significant accomplishment.

That to me is a separate issue from submitting your own application for street renaming and any tenant conflicts at the Liberty Bowl.

03-lmfao Don't tell him. If he's arrogant enough to submit the request, he's probably arrogant enough to follow through.

The article says Jones himself submitted the request.

LOL LOL LOL

Talk about egomaniac!

I can see if a group or someone, besides Jones himself, submitting it. BUT, to have the person themselves request it?!

City Council members get to name one each year. Probably getting paid to rename streets.

A person should pay for his name to be on a street---like corporations do for stadiums
The city could do an auction. Let the egomaniacs do their thing.

Too late. City council members need those funds.

"One letter of opposition was filed with the planning board. Beverly Lacey wrote that she lives on St. Paul and the street “has its own established history and heritage. Much of this history beginning as early as 1890.

“… My family’s legacy and heritage is on St. Paul Ave as there has always been a family member continuously at this location … since 1947,” Lacey wrote.".

Leave it alone Fred.

LOL. Whether it's Moscow or Memphis, when someone submits a street name change request on behalf of themselves....that's funny.

Well, in all fairness, if you BUILT said tower, I (and most people) have no problem with that. Plus (if you ARE referring to Mr. Trump), that is not a publicly owned and maintained property.

So, in conclusion, apples and pears.
