A PG to compliment LoJo is in order, but again it's hard to get a top transfer when the future is already here.

Replacing Brooks is more of a certainty, but that type of player is slim pickings. We're pretty late in the process and still haven't had all of the pieces settle. Three star prospects are a success at this point.

As if the other schools recruiting the same players don't have depth as well? I know Iowa State has guard depth. It is hard to tell anymore what these kids are looking for in recruiting, based on the sleu of 5*s and elite grad transfers funneling to the same 2 or 3 schools, I don't even know if players care about playing time anymore.

Former Valparaiso guard Bakari Evelyn updated his list of schools that he’s talking to this evening: Cal State Fullerton, Cincinnati, Fordham, Loyola Marymount (CA), New Mexico State and Portland State (visit).

So I guess we are just brining in the same recruits that would go to NKU? Man Brannen is having a terrible start.

Hard to put a positive spin on this.

So it is hard to put a positive spin on a former Nebrasketball commit who had a very good Sophmore year and then dealt with a bunch of injuries that required multiple surgeries? When healthy he 50% from 2 and 38% from 3. Maybe bone spurs in your foot will hurt your shooting percentages? Either way, it would only be for 1 year on a team that needs to add some depth.

Absolutely no positives in this though.

He's dealt with the same injury, with multiple surgeries (bone spurs in right foot). First surgery was senior year of HS, second was the year he transferred to Valpo and the third was last off-season. Not saying injury couldn't have contributed, but he may never be fully healthy.

Maybe Brannen knows something we don't and Evelyn is fully healthy (perhaps for the first time in his career) and will have a great senior year. But this looks like a desperate flyer because all the better options have turned us down.

I'd prefer he gamble on grad transfers if he's not comfortable with the remaining regular transfer and 2019 guys. It only impacts next year, and it gives him all summer to recruit 2020 kids he wants. It doesn't help for next year, but it's the smart long term play.

I agree with this philosophy. One year rental, depth, insurance policy.

Yeah, I have no problem taking a flyer on a grad transfer like Evelyn. We really need another point guard on the roster in 2019 and if Brannen thinks he can give us quality minutes off the bench, he's absolutely worth pursuing. He would be a bridge to 2020 when we will hopefully have either have a quality incoming freshman at the point to back up LoJo or someone like the Penn State transfer that is visiting campus this week.

And Valpo invested three years in this guy, one in which they carried him as a non-playing transfer, and another where he didn't exactly set the court on fire. Now he wants to transfer. Sounds like a spoiled brat whose entitlement represents a lot that's wrong with the contemporary game. How many transfers are enough for one NCAA career?

He graduated. I think that is a huge difference.

“When you go to college, getting to the NCAA Tournament is on your list of goals,” Evelyn said. “My fifth year, my last go-around, I want to give my best effort to achieve it — get to the big dance and make a good run.”

From his list of schools and that quote, I'd think he's theirs if they want him. Doesn't really sound like a bad pick up at this point for one season. A guy that has the ability to handle and score a little. Couple other articles I found linked below.

Things seem to be getting worse by the day, sounds like we may have more bad news. JB is about to be in for a pretty rough start. Think Im going to have to take a little vacation from UC hoops for a little while to keep sane.

I honestly don't know what you expected. It was going to take some time to get things in order. If Cumberland is back they'll still be a good team.

New Mexico State could make a strong case that they are the better option to make the NCAA tournament.

Like I stated earlier...take whatever you want...it's your body...to ruin or maintain. Just don't come crawling to the taxpayer when the consequences of your actions catch up with you. If you are breaking the law by obtaining pharm drugs illegally and getting hooked...that's both on you and whatever "doctor" you are abusing. Alcohol should work the same way...you abuse it, you ruin your life...it's on you. My recollection is that AA is a volunteer organization--I don't believe they get taxpayer dollars.

I just don't see how the alternative makes sense--legalize everything and then shift that burden to the responsible citizens that don't abuse drugs? How is that amicable or ethical?

Oh...and to get back on topic...JB is gonna have rough sledding early because he started so late in the game. I put that on Cronin and not JB. Too much farting around before a decision was made.

I just think we are used the annual free for all that just about every other program deals with. Mick brought stability with a low ceiling. He was safe, this brand new world for UC fans isn’t safe or easy. Just got to ride this out and so who is on the roster this season.

I have no idea, to be honest. I guess I expected some turnover, but figured with turnover there would be replacements. Its just been a bad month, hopefully JB can get off the mat and deliver. Cronin really screwed us with his timing, I sorta wish Bohn would have just got rid of him as it was clear he was half way out the door. We may have 5 or 6 scholarship players and one assistant coach left in another few weeks at this rate.

Do we actually know Cumberland or anyone else is gone? Is this just the usual twitter and BCJ rumors that leads to board meltdown.
