Samantha Huge: "In light of a recent facility assessment, we have concluded that renovating Kaplan Arena into a state-of-the-art home for the entire Department of Athletics must be a top priority."

So if we are to take this literally, it appears Kaplan won't be knocked down!

At the end of the process, I hope the top candidate prevails but everyone deserves proper consideration. That wasn't the case for most organizations for so long.

I think that we can all agree that every qualified candidate deserves an interview and an equal shot at any job for which they apply, with the position going to the most qualified/best fit for that particular position.

That is very different from checking boxes.

Making hires in order to check boxes is as (no better or worse) bad as excluding qualified candidates based upon unchecking boxes to favor one, imho.

Not my preference but I'll just be glad to see some movement on this issue.

We need a lot of money. If Huge is prepared to renovate Kaplan, let's hope she has reached an agreement with a big donor or donors who are willing to foot the bill. So many basics are currently not supported that were supported in years past. We need to get back on track.

Is that a strategic move or do we simply have less money coming in to the department? What's being underfunded?
