BILOXI
The C-USA baseball tournament will be back at MGM Park in Biloxi for the 2020 season, Tim Bennett of Overtime Sports announced on Friday during a press conference at Biloxi’s Margaritaville Resort.

It will mark the fourth consecutive season that the event has been held in Biloxi after the event was first played at MGM Park in 2017.

The 2017 event set attendance records, but the 2018 tournament saw a dip in attendance due to a stormy week of baseball.

This story will be be updated with more information.

Great news. I hope we'll continue to host the tournament in Biloxi past 2020, as well. Somewhat similar to what the American does in Clearwater.

Happy to hear this. We had a great time in Biloxi in 2017, but skipped 2018 and won't make it this year, either. I hope Rice is back in top form in 2020.

I may come down for the tournament Memorial Day weekend... Have heard it’s great with the exception of the shade (lack of).

The morning and noon games are pretty brutal in the stands. After about 2 pm the shade starts to set in behind the 1st base dugout at that top and works its way down to the dugout as the afternoon goes on. In the 2 previous years I've carried a lightweight blanket and sat on the rightfield berm under the scoreboard when USM had an early game which isn't a bad view...just a tad bit further to concessions and restrooms.

I second the recommendation for right field shade. It’s where we watched two games last year.

Berry was on local radio in Hattiesburg today. Said Charlotte, Houston, and Memphis (??) have all put in bids but apparently Biloxi has a guarantee they can’t turn down.

Houston and Charlotte would definitely be my next two choices. Reckling is a beautiful park, but I'd hope we continue to play at a neutral site like Sugar Land. And Charlotte is a great baseball city. The Knights repeatedly have the best attendance record in the minor leagues. As for Memphis... WTF?

I do think Biloxi is the best choice, though. At least for the conference as it is right now.

Interesting to hear that Charlotte put in a bid. Any link to hear the interview?

I’ve never been to the Sugarland facility but we’ve been playing one game there annually against UH as part of the three-game Silver Glove series.

I do like Biloxi but would also like to see it back in Texas soon.

Search Eagle Hour on wherever you get your podcasts (Apple Podcasts, Spotify). It’s on today’s show at 16:40.

After listening to it again, Berry didn’t say those three put in bids but that they “expressed interest.”

The International League (AAA), which includes the Charlotte Knights, has changed their scheduling policy to prevent blocking out dates. If we wanted to keep the tournament at a neutral site, Charlotte might be out. The ACC is going to have to relocate their tournament from Durham, as well.

I dont know how well attended it would be in charlotte but I know visiting fans woukd have had a great time. We have arguably the best AAA stadium in America. Lots to do around the stadium and amazing views from inside.
