Very sad indeed. College campuses used to be hubs for knowledge and enlightenment along with fun but now a days kids seem to attend colleges for becoming practice targets. Just Awful. RIP

I don't know of many games that involve shooting up a college campus.

News sensationalism, feelings of inadequacy, radicalization via the internet, feeling isolated from society, etc are the more likely reasons I would imagine.

Exactly, video games and drugs are a cheap cop out. Most of the shooters are 20-30 year old middle class men, who see themselves as failures and tend to blame it on others. Couple that with the ideology that they are superior and entitled to more out of life, and you have a cocktail ripe for radicalization.

Today rivalries don't matter. App nation is with you. Such a tragedy just thankful it wasn't worse.

Riley Howell, 21, Waynesville, NC

Those shot and injured at UNCC according to Chancellor Phillip Dubois on WBT are (spellings are unconfirmed):
Drew Pescaro, 19, of Apex, NC
Sean Dehart, 20, of Apex, NC
Rami Alramatin, 20, Saudi Arabia
Emily Haupt, 23, Charlotte



The shooter apparently had apparently just dropped out of school last semester and his mother passed 2 years prior...have to think mental health was certainly an issue. I've seen he was targeting a specific professor.

Unconfirmed reports are that one victim died charging the shooter. Brave act if true.

He sounds like a great kid. Hope they name something for him on campus to honor him (I'm sure they will though).

Really sorry to hear about this, Niners.

After I finished at ECU, I spent a few years in Charlotte, with one of them being in the University area (Halton Park Apartments). Charlotte is a beautiful campus and everyone there I interacted with has always been first-rate.
