Exclamation Start of a New Post-Game Tradition?
At the end of the Spring Game, all the players went to over to the crowd in the West Stands and sang the Huskie Fight Song.

This is a tradition at many other schools and I’ve long hoped to see this rather than the team running straight to the locker room after shaking hands with the opponent.

Here’s hoping this is the beginning of a tradition that’s been missing for some time.

Agree. Shows the fans and support that they matter. I don’t think they ever stopped doing that though.

This was done during the Novak era maybe even earlier.

Great idea to bring it back. The more fan engagement the better. These types of things are what makes going to a game unique and fun instead of watching from your couch.

When the Maryland game was over, the team swarmed the student section.

Last year saw too much of a rift between those on the field and those in the stands to make this feasible. There was the Tears incident where he verbally defended himself. There were the knuckleheads who’d heckle Carey even after wins.

Hopefully the fan base has matured - or those bad seeds have resided - so players and coaches feel comfortable integrating with fans again. We have to earn the players and staff’s trust through our conduct.

My wife and I attended the last Purdue victory. The players joined the fans in the stands to celebrate after the victory . That was quite a day. The NIU fans though outnumbered were far louder than the Purdue fans who failed to "Boiler Up".

Ironically, it happens on the road yet not at Home.

Beat me to it.

Other teams do the same on the road.

They don't go to the student section after home games? Guess I don't pay attention.

During the Novak era and ever since, the team has sang the Huskie Fight Song together in the lockeroom room, never in the stadium to the fans

This is during the DD/Kill era, but this definitely started in the Novak era and still has gone strong ever since

Now this traditional started back in the Kill era for sure and this one still is going strong in the lockerroom postgame as well

edit: found a version from 2000 under Novak. We always started with this and then go right into the fight song
