They just took 2 out of 3 from first place Miami in Oxford, Ohio this past weekend. They solidified their spot in the top 6 teams that participate in the post season tournament. They have 3 series left. Next weekend they host Ball State (who is now in first place) and the following weekend they travel to play a series against last place Toledo. They finish the season hosting 8th place Bowling Green. They have a good chance to move up to the third or fourth seed in the tournament.

10 - 8 in MAC play!

Beat Ball State 7-5 yesterday to salvage the final game of the series. Record is now 11-10, good for 5th place. They play Toledo next weekend. Toledo is 3-16 in MAC play and have lost 7 in a row overall. It would be nice to go in there and get a sweep.

They should be in pretty good shape to make the MAC tournament (top 6). Also, they have the tiebreaker over Ohio, however, not so with WMU.

Bad loss today. Wasted another well pitched game by Michael Lasiewicz, gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th and lost 5-4 to last place Toledo.

Much better result today. Swept a double header against Toledo. MAC record is now 13-11 and solidly in 5th place for the post season tournament. One last series left against Bowling Green who is in second to last place.

They've qualified for the conference tourney. Let's go boys, make some noise.

They lost another one yesterday to Bowling Green wasting another good performance by Michael Lasiewicz. He left after 5 innings with a 3-2 lead and they lost 4-3. The best they can do right now is 5th place and a first round game with Miami of Ohio. On a side note, the Chippewas of Central Michigan currently have the nations longest winning streak at 13 games.

In 2016 they finished with the 4th seed when 8 teams made the tournament. They lost their first 2 and were eliminated. In 2013 they finished with the 3rd seed in an 8 team tournament. They lost their first 2 and were eliminated. In 2011 they got the 4th seed and won 1 and lost 2. 2008 is probably the recent high water mark. They earned the 4th seed and won 2 games and lost 2, losing in the semi-finals.

NIU and Toledo are the only two schools to have never won a MAC baseball championship.

NIU shut out from the season ending All-MAC and specialty teams.

Another MAC Championship game/tourney that is held in the states of Ohio or Michigan.
