After it closed the old Safety Lane became the Norwood Boxing Club. Had a few blow by blows in there.

Any chance that any of Brannen's NKU recruits will decommit and sign with UC? Are any of them good enough to play for UC?

No. They are not at UC's level.

That school is like the depressing GM plant in Norwood that closed decades ago. At one time not a bad place to spend some of your life. But now, X should just be shuttered. Plywood on building windows would befitting the mood.
I grew up in Norwood and went to grade school and high school there in the 1940's and 1950's . In those days it was a great place to live and go to school. The tax revenue generated by all the industry there in those days helped make the school system one of the best in Ohio. It breaks my heart to see what has become of a once fine city.
What I remember about Norwood was the Auto Safety Inspection. To drive on the streets of Cincinnati you needed to have your car inspected (On Central Parkway). They checked brakes and lights. If you could not pass Cincinnati you went to Norwood and could pass by the fact that you drove there. Made money for Norwood.
The Norwood Safety Lane was pretty much a running joke to residents, When I was a kid I had a '46 Chevy that had non-functioning windshield wipers. It was due for inspection so I took it through the safety lane anyway. When the guy called for me to turn on the wipers . I just reached through the open window and moved them by hand. PASS.
Most just put a dollar under the wipers.

I'm thinking the Norwood version closed in the late '60s early '70s.

Yep, i think it close mid 70's and the boxing club took it up around 1980. From the history of the Wood:
"From 1982 until the late-1990s, the Norwood Boxing Club trained fighters in the old Safety Lane".

Vincent Banks?

So far the list of potential 2019 recruits is scary bad. Why is it so hard to recruit to Cincinnati. Hopefully Brannen finds his pg, keeps Curtis, and adds grad transfer. The 2020 names seem better but i am confused why an historical good program like Cincinnati doesn’t recruit better.
Is the conference and shoe deal that bad? Mick should have done better and I am concerned this level of recruiting bleeds into the new regime.

Texas Tech and Auburn seems to be doing fine as Under Armor schools

Memphis is lining up to have the #1 class in the nation, possibly. I have also seen Tulsa nab a 4* player recently and UCONN, WSU, and Houston all have Top 100 players coming in. No, it isn't the conference.
We have to get the stink of rock fight/boring crap offense off of us. It may take a couple years. No high flying scoring machine stud was going to come here and be berated and pounded into deflections/defense at all cost/peach basket hoops.

How long can you keep blaming Mick? He's not here anymore, he's not going to affect recruits decisions to come (and as I've pointed out before he recruited better then the other two best coaches in the league anyway).
Where do you see WSU and Houston bringing in top 100 guys, they don't have anyone on ESPN's top 100. Houston doesn't even have a 4-star guy. WSU has a top 100 class, but that is more due to quantity then quality, and those are the two best coaches in the league.
UCONN and Memphis each have 3 top 100 recruits coming in, but maybe they are more the exceptions then the rules (UConn has a pair of recent national titles, Memphis has Penny) and their coaches still haven't proved they can coach at this level.

With all due respect, it takes longer than 2 weeks to shake a reputation that took a generation to build. Some people still think UC is loaded with thugs and gangsters due to the Huggins era.

Welcome to the bottom of the AAC. No Brooks, JC, Samari, RF and perhaps others. No assistants.
JB may be good long term but for the next 3 years we are ECU west.
