I have been to Big Rapids and Grand Rapids to answer a previous question.
Their football attendance was higher than SDSU I believe.

Average football attendance in 2018 from the official NCAA stats site:

Grand Valley State - 9,695
South Dakota State - 10,178
San Diego State - 31,439

I looked at 2017 13k but CCU averaged 9200 before getting a SBC invite.
They have a higher average than the MVFC so Summit makes some sense.
They should do what they want but they fit in D1 FCS if they wanted that.

There is no doubt that GVSU would be a good D1 candidate, they have great potential and tradition. As a UNA guy, I would love to see it they would be better than a lot of current D1 schools. But, if they dont want it, it will not happen, and a bunch of message board chatter will not change that fact.
