Good school that normally has a lot of roster turnover every year

D1 recruits in our backyard and Hawk can't nab them. That's bad.

We’ve had close to home recruits of course, but it is equally true that some prospects prefer to spread their wings and go farther from home. Example the recruit from Georgia coming here.
Over the years though so many great players at K Central and for some reason we cant get them. Always wondered why.[/i]

I saw him play about 6 times this year.

IMHO

He's not a D1 player

Grand Valley didn't offer...FWIW

But

I also picked Ball State to win the MAC West last year :)

Regardless of talent, the fact that local basketball players don't appear to have any interest in WMU is pretty damning, especially if any of them have interest and/or are pursued by Central (which kicked our asses last year 3x).

In the Steve Hawkins time at WMU what Kalamazoo players were significant contributors to another D1 team & could have helped WMU?

From Kalamazoo Central Mr Basketball Isaiah Livers went to UMich.
& of course Devin Oliver went with Cornell Mann to Dayton.

Of course Seth Dugan from Otsego stayed to play for Hawkins.
One of those three ain’t bad.
Who did I miss?

Other Kalamazoo area D1 players (this is NOT to say WMU should have signed them)

In general

A kid (local or otherwise) in not likely to show interest in WMU if the interest isn't mutual.

What Kalamazoo area players did Hawkins miss on and were successful at another MAC or higher level D1?

Doug Anderson was pretty good at Detroit and probably could have sold a good 500-1,000 tickets a game.
