Citing health concerns, Pugh took an indefinite leave of absence just as an investigation was opened into her dealings selling children’s books.

Pugh is currently being investigated by the Maryland State Prosecutor’s Office in connection to sales of her “Healthy Holly” children’s books. On April 1, she announced that she would be taking a leave of absence for “health reasons” as the scandal grew.

“The Baltimore Sun reported last month that Pugh was paid $500,000 by the University of Maryland Medical System for 100,000 of the books to distribute to schoolchildren,” according to Thursday’s Baltimore Sun report.

“The no-bid arrangement was made while she was on the hospital network’s unpaid board. Health provider Kaiser Permanente later acknowledged that it paid Pugh more than $100,000 to buy about 20,000 copies of her books during a period when the company was seeking a lucrative contract to provide health insurance to city employees.”

The entire Baltimore City Council has since called for Pugh’s resignation. “The myriad of investigations underway into the various business dealings involving the Mayor raise significant ethical and legal issues,” said Councilman Eric Costello, in a statement issued along with several others from his fellow councilman.

“It will be impossible for Mayor Pugh to govern effectively. Therefore, I have joined all my colleagues today in asking for the Mayor’s immediate resignation. This unprecedented step has not been taken lightly. While I fully support the notion of ‘innocent until proven guilty,’ I remain deeply concerned about the immeasurable toll this scandal has taken on the City of Baltimore and its citizens. Resignation will not solve every problem but Baltimore needs to heal, once again, and it cannot do so until the Mayor steps aside.”

Pretty sure once you cross the Potomac the license plate readers are garnished liberally along major traffic ways including I-95.

Time for them to put that domestic spying to use against one of their own for a change.

And while there, I assume she will have a substance thrown on her by two black guys wearing red hats (that she paid for) yelling "make the Caribbean great again". But, Kim Fox is "vacationing" there, as well, so be sure all charges of making false statements will be dropped. Broke, with only the $800,000 from her sham book "deal", Healthy Holly will end up competing with Venezuelan migrant women turning tricks with cruise ship passengers to make ends meet. And the final book in the series, "Healthy Holly runs a Trolley", will be written.
