Sinclair Broadcasting in agreement to buy the old Fox RSNs
This appears to be a developing story, but here is Awful Announcing with a breakdown:

Sinclair has hand shake agreement with Disney

There were reports yesterday that Amazon might join Sinclair to bump up the bid from $9 billion. Looks like a couple of private equity firms got involved, however, to back the bid and the total sale price looks to be around $10 billion.

Looks like Sinclair got them for a little over $10 billion (plus the YES network sold for about $3.5 billion more in which Sinclair has a minority interest). Will find out tomorrow exactly how much...and who "joins" Sinclair (ie., maybe Amazon?), if anyone.

I don't know that it will have much impact on college sports, but I've been following the story for a while so I've been interested to see how it played out.

I think Sinclair has the ability now to affect the overall sports broadcasting market. Before, they just owned over-the-air TV stations, but now they have a pretty large presence on cable TV. I don't think it's far-fetched to say they have higher aspirations.

If they end up strengthening their partnership with Amazon, for example, then perhaps they try to build a national network? Something that combines linear TV and streaming? They've created the Stadium brand online and there are ways that could be integrated with Amazon. Perhaps that's a way for Amazon to jump into sports without having to alter their business model too much or drop huge sums on money on existing properties.
