That was a shoot. Kayfabe material. The rest are real life behind the scenes stories of the cess poll which is professional wrestling. I personally know stories which would turn your stomach but if I share them you would be able to guess the names of the people involved.
Tony Atlas has talked about the night Brody was murdered several times and how he has to sneak out of the country out of fear for his own life. He was warned NOT to go back to his hotel room. The killer was a co-owner of the promotion and had a lot of pull in the community.

What is your opinion of the film The Wrestler (2008) starring Mickey Rourke?
LOVED that movie, and it still holds up today. The only part that was questionable for me was Randy doing the hardcore stuff. I can't think of a real life situation where a guy who was a top star in the 80s or 90s being reduced to doing a one shot hardcore match, and especially not being aware of it beforehand, like the way it went in that scene.
Other than that, fantastic movie.
Back to Dark Side of the Ring....very well done series. I loved the Randy and Liz episode mainly because of Dutch Mantell narrating. Bruiser Brody's was great as well. Looking forward to the Von Erich episode.
An interesting report in the story is that Dutch and Tony never knew about the trial until after it was over. Two key witnesses to what was going on and Tony didn't get a subpoena and Dutch got his 10 days after the trial was over.

Yep. Heavy, heavy episode. Chris' son David made me lose it near the end. That kid has been through it and back again.

I mean, I ain't the wrasslin guru by any stretch. But a "shoot" is where they go off script. A "work" is something that's part of Kayfabe. You can have a "worked shoot" which is something that looks like a shoot but is really a work (like according to that Dark-Side of the ring episode on the Montreal Screw Job, a lot of people think that was actually a worked shoot).
