I mentioned before, wouldn't be at all surprised if it became cancelapalooza.

RE: PostponaPalooza
To some degree, we still have a decent line up of games against some power 5 teams that (assuming our QB and receiver play improves) are winnable games.
The only thing that matters is that they win against the schedule. To get a BCS bowl, you have to be undefeated and have a little luck in the rankings. (AKA 2012)
Assuming that is the goal, winning the MAC is nice, but winning a bowl game is more important. Making a BCS game helps with revenue. I have watched that game against FL ST several times and I still think we had a shot going into the 4th quarter. The true colors of our offense came to light when Lynch threw that interception. Anyway, that is the past.
My assumption is that our offense will be better this year regardless of who is QB. We were too predictable the last few years. Utah is a winnable game if we catch them sleeping at home. We have nothing to lose by shocking Utah at home. They have everything to lose. Not that I think its going to happen, but they will not have a lot on film of the new staff plays. I am sure we will hold back as much as possible against IL ST.
Nebraska will be looking for revenge from the last time we won. Vandy is winnable as well. We will see what happens OOC this year. The next 4 years we have at least 2-3 P5 teams.
The secret is just win. I am worried about our experience at DE now that we lost both starting ends from last year. Otherwise, our D will be solid. Anyone know about a kicker????
Maybe I am just optimistic, but I think we will be a better overall team now that we have anew coach.

They've already had 2 P5 teams (and San Diego State) in DeKalb the last 3 years. That's more than the entire previous decade.

Sorry 7 but that's not true. Assume you're defining the decade as 2000 through 2009, you've forgotten that NIU opened the 2002 season against Wake Forest in Huskie Stadium while the 2003 season opener was Maryland and Iowa State was the third home game (fourth overall after winning at Alabama). Plus you throw in San Diego State as a notable opponent and that decade included home games against Central Florida, South Florida and Navy.

Yea its still better than the previous decade, which was a home OCC schedule made in hell.
From 2006 to 2015 we played Kansas, Army, Navy, UNLV and Idaho. That's it for FBS teams.

Quick math lesson (for the senile):
Last 3 seasons = 2016, 2017, 2018.
Decade (10 years) preceding that = 2006 - 2015 seasons.
This concludes this PSA (Public Senile Assistance).
Thank you.

Is it though? We've got and have had some pretty good and strong schedules. Focusing on this as a "failure" is a tad short-sighted. Especially since it was done years ago as a way to get people excited about the team and program and to signal a change in the types of teams they were looking to schedule and the effort in getting larger schools in to DeKalb.
I mean, they can go back to playing one P5 school a year in Soldier Field, if that's what you want.

I went back to 08 on FBS schedules and of the 21 OOChome games we've had at NIU. I may have missed 1 or 2, but still the majority of our OOC games are from FCS teams, that's not real exciting football even though 5 were Illinois schools.
2 were Soldier Field
3 were P5
5 were G5
11 were FCS (includes ISU this year)
The next 3 years look a little better. BYU, Wyoming, EIU/Vandy.
Let's see what Fraizer does for schedules.

College athletics and finances have changed so much recently you’re doing a bit of apples to oranges with Frazier and earlier NIU AD’s. He may have to focus on things others did not. This may take time away from him sending out those Christmas cards to everyone and making sure the snack stand has both cool ranch AND nacho Doritos.

PSA #2 of the day.
"Out-of-Conference" = teams NOT in your conference.
"In Dekalb" = on campus at Huskie Stadium, NOT off-campus neutral sites.
Thank you.

I've said this before but evidently it needs repeating.
