RE: 2023-26 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Sites: Guesses
Here's my list:

Things I try for:
1) No arena hosts more than once every three years just to give more arenas/cities a chance. I know the NCAA doesn't do this. Multiple sites in the same metropolitan area are allowed as are rehearsal sites for the Final Four (the NCAA seems to have gotten away from it but when I went to the NCAA bid site it looks like they want to do it in the next cycle).

2) Try to let arenas that haven't host regionals get a chance or those who haven't in a long time the chance to do so rather than the same ones always doing so.

3) At least 15,000 capacity is required. If you see an arena with under 15,000 listed, let me know and I'll replace it.

Most recent hosting in (). The sites in 2026 without a year were chosen in 2023. I have three new cities (Cincinnati was chosen in 2022 but was postponed).

RE: 2023-26 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Sites: Guesses
New for the women's tournament starting in 2023:
https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/champio...082319.pdf

"Effective for the 2023 championship and beyond, the regional rounds of the Division I Women’s Basketball
Championship will be held at two sites with eight teams competing at each site This adjustment to the regional format
will:
• Elevate and enhance the student-athlete experience.
• Create opportunity for fan engagement, growth of the sport and the championship through an increased
focus on developing annually two regional markets.
• Support building the brand of women’s basketball within the host cities.
• Provide opportunities to expand established community programming and create new programming
targeting strategic plan initiatives (for example, coach and officiating pipelines, student-athlete career
development and health and well-being).
• Enhanced broadcast coverage of the championship."

I don't know how this makes it better.

"Assignment of Teams. A team may not be assigned to play in any arena in which it has played more than three regular season games, not including conference postseason tournaments. (Reference: Division I Women’s Basketball Selection, Seeding and Bracketing Policies and Procedures)"

Say goodbye to regionals in the state of Connecticut.

2023:

Regionals: Allstate Arena, Chicago and Moda Center, Portland
Final Four: American Airlines Center, Dallas (Announced)

2024:

Regionals: Spectrum Center, Charlotte and Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City
Final Four: Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, Cleveland (Announced)

2025:

Regionals: Times Union Center, Albany and Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Final Four: Chase Center, San Francisco

2026:

Regionals: State Farm Arena, Atlanta and Pepsi Center, Denver
Final Four: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia

Last Women's Final Four in a Western site: 2012 (Denver)
Last Women's Final Four in the Pacific Time Zone: 1999 (San Jose)
Last Women's Final Four in the Northeast: 2006 (Boston)

2026 is the 350th anniversary of the birth of the US. MLB announced Philly is hosting the 2026 All Star Game. It would be good for them to also get the Women's Final Four the same year.

Hey Schmolik, Philadelphia is not a finalist for the Women's Final Four in 2026: Columbus, Phoenix, Portland, and Tampa are finalists.

Switch out North Charleston or Greenville for Charlotte as a regional site along with including the Uncasville regional one year and I'd buy it.

Who would host Uncasville instead of UConn?

Ok, Bridgeport with the MAAC hosting.

RE: 2023-26 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Sites: Guesses
Updated to try to give preference to the sites that lost the 2020 Tournament but with the 15,000 minimum attendance rule:

2023:

1st/2nd Rounds:
Prudential Center, Newark (2011)
Times Union Center, Albany (2003) (Cancelled 2020)
Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati (Never)
Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln (Never)
State Farm Arena, Atlanta (2018, FF Cancelled at Mercedez Benz Stadium 2020)
Alltel Arena, Little Rock (2008)
Honda Center, Anaheim (2019)
Seattle Center Arena, Seattle (2015)

Regionals:
Spectrum Center, Charlotte (2018)
Enterprise Center, St. Louis (2016) (Cancelled 2020)
Amalie Arena, Tampa (2011) (Cancelled 2020)
Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix (2012, FF at University of Phoenix Stadium 2017) (Rehearsal for Final Four)

Final Four: NRG Stadium, Houston (Announced)

2024:

1st/2nd Rounds:

XL Center, Hartford (2019)
Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro (2012) (Cancelled 2020)
Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, Cleveland (2015) (Cancelled 2020)
Chi Health Center, Omaha (2018) (Canceled 2020)
American Airlines Arena or BB&T Center, Miami (2009)
AT & T Center, San Antonio (2022) (Rehearsal for Final Four)
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas (Never)
Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City (2019)

Regionals:

TD Garden, Boston (2018)
Little Caesars Arena, Detroit (2021)
Golden 1 Center, Sacramento (2017) (Cancelled 2020)
Bridgestone Arena, Nashville (2018)

Final Four
2027 Final Four: Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta
2028 Final Four: Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park
2029 Final Four: AT&T Stadium, Arlington

How do you feel about having the Final Four in the Los Angeles area the same year as the Olympics? It also gives Atlanta first dibs on a Final Four.

I decided on Newark and Brooklyn (2026) instead of Madison Square Garden and Anaheim instead of the Staples Center. The Staples Center likely would host in 2027 as the rehearsal for the 2028 Final Four under this plan.

It was formerly known both as Riverfront Arena, The Crown, Firstar Center, and US Bank Coliseum. It has hosted the Men's tournament in 1979, 1987. 1988, and 1992 and the 1997 Women's Final Four.

This marks the first time a team has topped StubHub's NHL list two seasons in a row since the Chicago Blackhawks reigned from 2014-2016. Meanwhile, Vivid Seats reports that it has seen double the volume of sales for the Golden Knights as their No. 2-selling team, the New York Rangers.

Vegas has absolutely killed it as a hockey city. NHL hit a grand slam going there (and Nashville).

I have been extremely pleased — as a long-time Nashvillian — to see how the NHL has been embraced here. We had a "pro hockey culture" here since the late 1960s (with minor league hockey) so there was a "base" on which to build an NHL franchise. But the acceptance of NHL hockey in the city has been stronger than I would have thought. Lots of folks here truly care about the Preds and, in general, the NHL.

Agree on Vegas. A strong choice.

Late 60’s Nashville was like a one stoplight town. It took a bunch of people from up north to turn Nashville into a “hockey town”.

Nashville is the type of town where a person moves there from San Diego, then has the gall the very next year to complain about all the people moving there.

Since we're talking Frozen Four sites, my guesses:

2023
T-Mobile Arena(Las Vegas)
2024
Little Caesars Arena(Detroit)
2025
Madison Square Garden(New York City)(Why not?)
2026
Xcel Energy Center(St. Paul)(if they're bidding, if not, Bridgestone Arena(Nashville))

RE: 2023-26 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Sites: Guesses
Surprise of today's release: SoFi Stadium did not get a regional(LA is hosting in 2024, but at Staples Center). Sign that the NCAA doesn't think the stadium can host due to the opening that allows air inside? I know they tried to bid for a Final Four from 2023-26, but surely the stadium could host.

From my list above, the most notable missing cities from the cycle are Minneapolis and Nashville.

Cincinnati was denied in the cycle. They were awarded a bid in 2022 but because their renovations fell behind schedule their games were moved to Indianapolis. The last time they hosted was 1988.

I'm not sure why Lincoln doesn't host the NCAA Tournament. Are they even bidding?

I also suggested Hartford. They finally got to host in 2019 but were shut out 2023-26. Others I suggested that missed the cut were Syracuse, Albuquerque, Little Rock, and Anaheim (of course Los Angeles will host).

Meanwhile, it seems like the same cities dominate the regional sites. North Carolina continually gets shut out. I'm sure North Carolina and/or Duke would love to play a regional in Charlotte or Raleigh rather than the 1st/2nd round. All four East Regional sites are once again in the Northeast. The last regional in North Carolina was 2008 (Charlotte). Raleigh last hosted the East Regional in 1982. Las Vegas is new and among old arenas only Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit will get to host a regional for the first time (Detroit area will get to host for the first time since 2008). Meanwhile the New York metro gets two regionals and the Bay Area gets back to back regionals.

I was about to say the same. I took one look at the new rotation and it looked awfully familiar to past years. Pretty boring.

It's partially why I wouldn't mind NCAA Tournament expansion, just to add more sites and flavor.
