The only difference is basketball does not have the complex playbook that football has. Terminology in football can make transition more difficult. If you can play BBall you can play.

I think they're done. My understanding is that since he had entered the transfer portal, his scholarship became available at that moment and has since been filled. Assuming Hankerson gets a scholarship. If he doesn't, then they've got one more, but I pretty sure when Scott got his transfer, the tweet alluded to him being the last one that would be added.

This isn't really a MAC update but I just wanted to point out that Christian Guess of Missouri has transferred to.....you guessed it....Tallahassee Community College. If you remember, TCC has already brought in 4 MAC transfers (DeAndre Gholston - Kent State, Eric Hester - Akron, and Tariq Silver and Daivon Stephens, both of Eastern Michigan) and now add Guess from Missouri.
I honestly have no idea if they've added others as I don't know who signed there that I missed and wasn't a MAC player. But they've basically added a starting five (I'm assuming they'll all be starting, but who knows) of all D-1 recruits.
Granted, maybe some of them had no business being on a D-1 floor to begin with. But the fact of the matter is, what the hell is going on in Tallahassee?????

All these guys are basically the same size and all are wing players .. Not PGS or Posts ... they won't all be starting.

The only guy I see you missing is Caleb Oehlberg, but....let's be honest....right?...
Presuming Oehlberg is still choosing to be part of the team.
Otherwise, yes, this is the roster.

RE: 2019-20 MAC Basketball Transfers (Updated)
NIU Update:
Austin Richie has announced his transfer to Triton College.
Also,
Darius Beane (SIU) has announced his transfer to NIU. Beane will have to sit out a season and will join the Huskies for the 2020-21 season with 3 years of eligibity remaining.
Beane was a 3* recruit from Carbondale High School and is a 6'3" point guard. As a freshman and SIU, Beane played in 32 games averaging 15.4 minutes (with zero starts). He averaged 3 points a game while shooting 45.5% from the field, 32.4% from 3 point range, and 74.1% from the line. He also almost 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
Side Notes: It is rumored that Beane's father, who is an assistant coach at SIU, may be coming to NIU with Darius to be an assistant with Montgomery. Also, Beane's cousin, Jimmy Beane, is also transferring from SIU and has signed with Palm Beach State College.

Are we sure he has to sit a year? If I’m reading things correctly, he should be eligible because he wasn’t on scholarship.

I'll be honest, I'm confused by everything. On one hand, I'd be surprised if he was a walk-on considering the press he was getting as a high school senior. But, I don't know everything about his situation and how it worked with his dad on the SIU staff. With that said, on verbal commits, he listed as an "Expected Red Shirt". I presume that means he has to sit out a season since he played 32 games in his freshman season.
Also, this is from the article in The Southern Illinoisian in their article about his transfer.
"Beane, a 6-foot-3, 165-pound sophomore, will likely have to sit out the 2019-2020 season but would have three years of eligibility beginning in 2020-21. Beane played in all 32 games at SIU as a true freshman last season, averaging three points and 2.8 rebounds a game. Beane shot 39.5% from the field and 32.4% from the 3-point line."
I'd like to point out I listed the wrong FG%. The one in this article is correct. I posted his 2PT% instead of his FG%.

According to this he had to walk on because of academics. Per the new transfer rules, that would make him eligible.

Yes! Look for Beane to start at point guard and German to be the shooting guard. Beane is very talented. I’m pretty sure his dad will be here also and he is a good recruiter with tons of Illinois connections. Monty knows what he must do to save his job!

So you’re saying he’s that much better than Hankerson (or anyone else)? No contest, just hand him the keys?

I’ve seen nothing but goodness stuff about him. I think Geno will be the primary ball handler but it wouldn’t surprise at all if he starts.

He is much more athletic and will be more of a scorer than Hankerson. As we know all to well that doesn’t mean the team will be good but even before now I’ve only heard good things about his potential. Time always tells all
