His name is Mac Murphy. He'll be eligible to play for La Tech next season.

Mac Murphy - "I'm signing with Louisiana Tech because I want to play for Coach Terry," said Mac Murphy. "He originally recruited me at Troy before he left. I'm coming to Tech to get a good education, to win some golf tournaments and to enjoy playing the last two years of my college career with my brother."

Looking at stats, those guys were not real contributors. Troy had a nice thing rolling there for a few years, hopefully they can again. Sun Belt golf has improved greatly over the last five years, it's exciting to see Ark State in the top 30 and ULM is playing nicely and taking it to Georgia Southern right now.

Calum Masters was without a doubt our best player. Murphy was one of our top four golfers, and Steingrimsson was good enough to make the traveling team and showed a lot of potential being a freshman.

Either way, it hurt the depth Troy had to choose from. We literally lost half our our team. Now, 5 of the 9 players on our roster are freshmen.

Like I said, give us a couple of years and we'll be back...

Astate beats Coastal 3-2 in one semifinal. Luka Naglic secures it with a late couple holes won. Southern and ULM finished 2-2 with the last match ending tied. They are headed to a playoff. Winner faces AState for the title

ULM upsets GS in a playoff.

A-State vs. ULM for the title.

Four years, only once has the No. 1 seed won.

Astate should be locked in as an at large by now. ULM needs to win to get in.

ULM has really been playing well as of late. One a really good tourney in Mississippi the other day with a top 10 team and several SEC schools.

But seriously, I am proud of our athletes and coaches. This is a big deal for us because we've not been much of a golf school in a long time.
