RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
B5: Beaulaurier walks, Comeaux singles, Gneiting RBI single , Cruz RBI double , Dunlap RBI single -- still no outs, Edwards sac fly , Cox struck out looking (our 4th K tonight looking!!!), Collins 10-pitch single with run scoring on throwing error , MTSU FINALLY going to the bullpen (quality RHP with a 2.86 ERA in 28.1 IP), Frazier struck out.
Good guys lead 7-0 heading to the top of the sixth inning.
Hopefully, Evan was able to keep his arm warm.

RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
MTSU gets their leadoff hitter on in T6 via E-5, but Evan closed the door thereafter. He now has a career-high 12 strikeoutKKKKKKKKKKKK through 6 innings.
And the Owls go down 1-2-3 in B6.
Good guys lead 7-0 heading to the top of the seventh inning.
Likely Evan's last inning as his pitch count stands at 92. Not surprising given the 12 Ks and 3 BBs, even though he's only allowed 2 other baserunners.

RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
Evan hits a batter, but that's it, and he notched his 13th strikeout, which marks a season-high for any Owl pitcher. Given he's now over 110 pitches now, i'm assuming that's it for the big man...
7.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BBs, 1 HBP, 13 Ks
For the season, he now has 77 Ks in 56 IP. Pretty darn impressive.

RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
New pitcher for MTSU, a LHP with a 5.00 ERA with only 9.0 IP.
Cruz ground out.
Dunlap singles.
Edwards struck out swinging. Two outs, runner on 1B.
Cox struck out swinging.
Just like last night, our hitters go totally dormant after a big inning.
Good guys lead 7-0 heading to the top of the eighth inning.
Blair Lewis on the mound for the Owls.

RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
Comeaux makes his second error of the game, but the runner is stranded as Lewis strikes out two, making it 15 Ks over 8 innings so far. Last night we struck out 14.

Rice goes down with just a weak single in the B8.
Good guys lead 7-0 heading to the top of the 9th inning.

Tough start for Blair Lewis in T9. Double, double, single. Now 7-2. No outs.
Blair settles down to get the next 3 hitters on fly outs.
Owls win 7-2.

Finally get the game 2 win after the last two dubious weekends. A much needed series win over a team ahead of us in the standings. A sweep would be nice since the remaining conference schedule continues to get tougher.

RE: MTSU @Rice, game 2
And just like Greenwood last night, Lewis is getting roughed up in the 9th. Double-double-single for 2 runs, and still no outs.
Final: Rice 7-2
Game Ball #1: Evan Kravetz (W, 3-2, 7.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 BBs, 13 Ks)-- a career game for the big man, who has had 3 or 4 absolutely dominating games this season which should ensure he gets drafted. A 6'8" LHP with quality stuff is going to get drafted, and probably considerably higher than his college stats would indicate.
Game Ball #2: Cade Edwards (2-3, sac fly, double, HR#4, run, 2 RBIs)-- with the game winner and two of our 3 extrabase hits.
Game Ball #3: Braden Comeaux (2-5, 1 run)-- despite his 2 errors, he ran his on base streak to 16 games, the longest of the season for the Owls.
We really need a sweep tomorrow, which would bring us back to .500 in conference play (though we have the hardest part of our conference schedule remaining over the next 4 weeks). Go Owls!

Dunlap ran through a stop sign at 3rd. Janish just shook his head and smiled. I think Dunlap was right - with 2 out if you think you've got a 50/50 chance you go for it. Frazier might have been the next up.
Both of Comeaux's errors were short hop attempts. One could argue it was the only way to get the out.

It does seem like we're getting more complete performances in our wins as the season rolls along. Now we need to learn how to win when we don't bring our "A" game.

Several years back the Bookstore had several versions of this retro cap. I picked up one with a green/tan shade.

Evan's dominant career-best performance not only earned him CUSA Pitcher of the Week honors, but Collegiate Baseball's national co-Pitcher of the Week honors.
Congrats, Evan.

Congrats, Evan.
We are looking really good right now going into the home stretch
He just raised his draft stock with his outing.
"Kravetz fired a career-high 13 strikeouts in 7.0 innings, tying for the highest strikeout total by a C-USA pitcher this season"
"Braden Comeaux knocked a home run and a double Saturday. He has reached base in each of the last 17 games, the longest streak by any Owl this season."
Edwards should have won CUSA Hitter of the Week. "Cade Edwards extended his hitting streak to seven games (currently the longest active mark on the team). His red-hot weekend consisted of going 6-for-10 at the plate with a home run and two doubles , a sac fly, a stolen base, 4 RBI's, and a walk for a 1.110 slugging percentage
