Do MAC Fans Travel?
Just wondering if you guys will travel in any numbers to Syracuse this Fall? I had another thread on the main WMU forum a few months ago and it appears no one is interested in a road trip to Cuse.
Zoo to Cuse about 8 hours going thru Sarnia
Syracuse is close to Niagara Falls, Cooperstown and the Finger Lakes Wineries if you want to spend an extra day. No worry about getting rained on.
Group rate tix are a great deal that start with 15 folks
Also, you should be able to find some cheap tickets through the secondary market. The Clemson game the week prior will sell out (50K) but I expect the WMU will only have 35K.

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
Complete guess but I'm confident you'll have less than 1K WMU fans in attendance.
I feel like for our home games other MAC teams (minues CMU,EMU,Toledo) only bring 500ish to Waldo

I'll be there with 2-3. What's the best bet for tickets? Parking?

I expect to have 3 tix with a parking pass (two blocks) from the stadium for sale.
Have you figured out where you are staying? That determines your parking strategy
Do you want to stay on campus? downtown? or close to a freeway in the suburbs? You can find a decent room for under $75 a night in the suburbs. If you want to stay close to the Dome I suggest doing a Priceline name your own price. Pick downtown/University areas and ask for 3.5 stars or better. Offer $90 a night and you should get something good. It is nonrefundable so you better be sure you are going. You are welcomed to our tailgate if you like, or you can check out Marshall St and The Quad pregame.

Not sure if we'll be flying or driving yet, still to be decided. How much are you listing your tix for? Any recommendations for seating in the satdium?

Driving is not bad from Michigan. There are nonstops from Detroit but if you are coming from the Zoo I'd recommend just driving as changing planes is a PIA. Driving allows you sightseeing. Lots of beautiful areas around Upstate NY
I can sell you two tickets for $40 or three for $50. The seats are in Section 126, mid-level one seat off the aisle. Easy to beer, food and rest rooms. Lower level is also 5-10 degrees cooler than the upper deck.
Parking pass is $30 but you are two blocks from the Dome. You are also welcome to my tailgate in the same lot. Our tailgates usually are about 150 strong with great food and beer selection. We ask around a $10 donation to cover food n beer costs

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
Bump
Anyone coming over? I have some tickets and a parking pass 2 blocks away from Gate B sale. 2 for $40, 3 for $50. Tickets located one seat off aisle near goal line. First level about halfway up. Perfect sightlines. Great chance to improve your seats as I expect only 30-35K. Parking in the donor lot $500+ a year plus $200 for parking pass. I'll sell the parking pass for $30. You are also invited to join the best tailgate in Stadium West. Send me a Private Message if interested.

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
30K to 35K? Higher then our typical-season-max of 20K, but just goes to show the divide in the Power 5. (In Michigan, we think of U of Michigan and Ohio St with their ginormous full-capacity stadiums)
In regards to the original question, at Waldo, we usually get a solid number of Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan fans. The other MAC teams we host usually bring just a couple rows in the corner of the sideline, with Northern Illinois and Toledo usually bringing a few more rows then that.
My trips to Western Michigan games at U of Michigan and Michigan St: my guess is we're probably the smallest visiting fanbase those teams host, even for being an in-state university. Usually a little corner and then dotted throughout the rest of the stadium. Expect the same when you host us.
As for me, not planning on any road games this year...maybe Eastern Michigan, with an unlikely but possible Michigan St trip.

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
Our typical season-max is going to be closer to 25k than 20k...
2018: 24k, 23k, 20k (Syrcause as last one)
2017: 26k, 18k, 18k
2016: 28k, 26k, 24k
2015: 31k, 21k, 20k
2014: 22k, 20k, 13k
2013: 24k, 22k, 16k (our 1-11 year)

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
We probably had 5,000 fans at the USC opener a couple years ago, but those were sort of unique circumstances. Coming off a Cotton Bowl appearance and we don't play many games out west, so the alums from all over SoCal and the southwest made the trip. There will probably be maybe 500 parents, fans, administration and high-end donors making the trip to Syracuse and another 500 NY State alums there, so 1,000 wearing WMU gear seems the high-end number. Wouldn't expect more than that.

If you get that you will have more than most teams coming in. Only Clemson, FSU and local NE teams like PSU and maybe Rutgers or UConn (if they are winning that year) would bring in 1000.

RE: Do MAC Fans Travel?
I wanna move my WMU tickets for the CUse game
2 for $25 or 3 for $35
Send me a PM
Parking Pass will still be $30 as close in parking is very expensive around the Dome.

Actually I am going. These are extra tickets I bought to qualify for another parking pass. It is getting super tough to find tailgate spots close to the Dome.
BTW, the WMU tailgate will be an Oktoberfest theme. Expect we'll get a keg of German Beer along with German Food. A couple of our helpers are native German Hausfraus.
