Didn't take long for the kids to realize that Pastner really didn't care about them. They spend too much time around him to not see what a phony he is.

Never saw that and never heard that. Not relating is not the same as not caring. If he was a phony with his players he certainly worked hard and put in a lot of overtime fooling everyone in every other part of his public life. I personally saw the caring, giving side of him.
